Liverpool FC team up with Jamie Broad for FA Cup semi rap cut
Not bad this!
Jamie Broad has been a name on our radar for some weeks now, but it was the release last week of his nostalgia-tripping Tribe Called Quest-aping Knock A Door Dash which made us sit up and listen.
Now his Robbie Fowler, Bill Shankly, Rhys Jones and the Hillsborough 96-name-checking track released by Liverpool FC ahead of Saturday's semi-final with Everton which is sure to stamp his name all over Merseyside.
On Saturday, just like on every other occasion the two teams have met, there will be families on Merseyside split in terms of who they'll be supporting - and that's very much the case in Broad's household.
A big Blue, Jamie's parents both pledge allegiance to the Red of Liverpool. His great nan even had LFC tattooed on her arm.
With the clock ticking down to kick-off of the most important derby for over 20 years, Broad has teamed up with GIT Award supporters, LFC, to record 'Scousers on Wembley Way (Knock-A-Door Dash remix) - a track that celebrates both clubs and, in doing so, lists some of the things that unite both sets of fans, including a quest for Justice for the 96.
Broad will be among an amazing cast of Scouse hip hop talent at the Kazimier on Friday April 20 when Elemental Music have their label launch party which will feature several generations of DJs, rappers, B-Boys, graffiti artists and bands.
In the meantime, here's Broad's reworked FA Cup track with the new derby-inspired lyrics with the original track featured below.
I'm a big fan of A Tribe Called Quest, so really like "Knock A Door Dash".
