Indo says McLean is expected to be in the squad if the FAI can get his clearance from FIFA in time. Good news

Trapp is loyal but he is no fool. There has been a clamour for Coleman and McCarthy to get in the side, however I dont think they have been as good as some make out. McClean has started brilliantly and think he will get in squad for friendlies. If he keeps form up to the euros, he will be in the squad.

Not overly talented (in a technical sense) but seems to make things happen/ get involved. Somewhat similar to Coleman on that sense. If he keeps up this form he surely has to go as an energetic wildcard option. Surely an upgrade on Hunt for that role

Only a matter of time before himself and Meyler are both making squads from Sunderland. Meyler will need a bit more time tho. No better man than O' Neill to help them out.

Not in the squad. Hope he does not go on Twitter and say he is disappointed or the like.

Hardly a major shock, he didnt feature in Qualifiers and this squad is the one for the Euro's barring injury.
He's unlucky given his recent form but I think the squad that qualified should be the one to go.

Agreed about the twitter, just take it on the chin and make sure you play yourself into the Qualifing squad in September.

I don't understand this lads. Surely the best 11 that are available should play. What someone has done for the team in the past is irrelevant at this level. It's not some bonus holiday tournament for players who have served the team well in the past.

I agree. Football is all about form and past indiscretions aside, players have to be able to play themselves in and out of the squad. Competition for places is healthy in any squad. I thought trapp would have a look at him but it's not a major suprise he didn't either. Maybe trapp's loyalty will be handsomely rewarded by the players he sticks by in other ways. Definitely think the lad has a big future with us though.

there was 2 lads from Derry I used to hang down in Cork around a bit with a few Years back now and they were after getting Irish passports. They carried them around with them EVERYWHERE and anytime anyone asked them where they from ( they didn't exactly blend in with the Cork " how are you boy " lingo ), out came the passports. It could be at a party, disco, pub, shop, bus, didn't matter, they never gave a thought to who they were talking to, out came the passports and they'd be pointing at the Irish. I'd swear if they went swimming the passports would be tucked down their trunks. It was priceless.:D

Another goal today, he looked so comfortable and unfazed by playing Arsenal its hard to believe he was playing in the LOI only a few months ago. He has made the transition so smoothy

Will def feature for ireland after the euros, fair play to trap for sticking with those that got him there.Ireland and two or three others didnt want to know when it was unglamourous qualifiers in russia and the like. They all want the glamour now.

McClean is a class player but the likes of coleman and long and cox deserve their place in the squad before him.Like i said tho, from september he will be in the squad and team for the next ten years.

McClean has shown yet again what a good player he is and he would be a great addition to the international scene. I envy the choice the south have when picking their squads for international football. McClean has decided to turn his back on the north and play for the south so fair play to him and good luck. He will get the nod soon if he keeps improving like he is.
