Ive been thinking about this since Riera came to our club, and I cannot for the life of me, wonder why Rafa has NOT tried Ryan on the right wing...

The guy has blistering pace and would outstrip most LB's in the league, as well as in European competition.

He's also got a great early cross on him, as Ive seen when he has found himself on the RW at times.

Add this to the fact that the guy keeps cutting in from the left wing, making play narrow and easy for defenders to defend against and it just makes sense.

At the very least, I'd love to see him have a run of games on the right wing.. he would offer so much more than whats there at the moment.

Benayoun.. Cuts in too much, and takes too much out of the ball at times.
Kuyt... great workrate.. poor cross, and is NOT a right winger.

    Thoughts??

He played there v psv with riera on the left and did a good job-the first time in ages (possibly ever) that rafa selected 2 out and out wingers at the same time.

I think he sould be given a go there-especially against the weaker teams but unfortunately kuyt is undroppable to rafa and has made the right his own.kuyt gives more balance with his defensive work and should play there against the bigger teams but certainly i think we need width on BOTH flanks against the smaller teams at anfield who have no intention of attacking anyway.

I'd at least like to see Babel get a few more sarts wherever Rafa wants to put him because when he just comes off the bench for the last 20/30 mins its hard for him to influence a game which makes him look like an average player, which we all know he's not.

Does anyone else get him and Ngog mixed up when their both on the pitch from an overhead view or is it just me?:D:D:D

Jesus, I hope Rafa aint reading this... edit your post now... then, er.. I will!!

Honestly, he should be given a run on the right wing, perhaps in the upcoming game v Preston.. an ideal opportunity me thinks!!

I like Babel and i think he would do well on the right wing would get the service into the strikers more than Kuyt does i think and is well abel to create a chance or 2 himself! Riera has more or less cemented the left wing position so i cant see Babel getting in their so maybe he will get his chance in right wing against the likes of Preston. Altough in saying that Rafa seems to like El Zhar and will probably opt for him.

to be honest lads, i think Babel seems a bit lost at the moment...his touch has been shocking and i haven't seen any of his pace the last few times he's been on the pitch? he's got great potential...i hope he lives up to it!

Agree with this - lost seems the right word. But he has the potential so a couple of games on the right wing might be the answer.

Yep spot on . . . loads of potential but over the past few games he has looked sluggish and disinterested. ..

By the way he's moped around in the last few weeks, I think he feels his time is up at Anfield and that Rafa doesn't particularly fancy him to start many games. Didn't he give an interview to some Dutch journo saying if he didn't get first team football...blah blah blah. If thats the way he feels let him go and get in for young Sturridge off the blue manc scum.

I reckon after a few games in a row he'd turn into a great right winger...but good auld mr reliable dirk kuyt will likely always get the nod when fit...

have to say id choose Kuyt over Babel any day of the week.

Babel has shown he has a fierce shot and a willingness to show it off from within 40 yards of goal and thats it so far in his Liverpool career.

I keep hearing about his bags of potential and when i say the same about Lucas im told he is not good enough for the shirt.

Babel doesnt work hard enough and he is not good enough to start that kind of thing(we are not talking about a messi type player here)

I hope he turns out good but im not willing to scarifice our first or second best player this season to try him wide right.

i love dirk and would have him starting on the right against all the big teams but when we struggle against the 'weaker' teams its sometimes due to the lack of width on BOTH sides-would have him and riera both playing.

Babel can be a great player if he wants it enough.but hes never goin to improve without an extended starting run in the team in a settled position.unfortunately for him, cant see that happening any time soon.

Babbel was crap against Newcastle. We won despite him. He showed no effort or committment from the first whistle. Picked up a bit when he scored but he deffo doesnt have the same attitude as his country man Dirk. Just thinking maybe thats why Rafa doesn't trust him to start that many games? Pity cos we all know he has ability. His heads not in it tho.
