Turned on the Samsung Plasma this morning and there is a single black line (bout 1 inch thick) running down the screen about 1/3 way in on the left. Been searching the net and there are hundreds of theories. Have it about two years and its out of warranty. Anyone had similar problems or know anything about tvs? Seems it can be fixed.
Sounds like it could be a burned in image or something. Funny that it happened after 2 years. Try this website.....http://www.electronichouse.com/article/the_myth_of_plasma_burn_in/
Hi Kopirish this happened to a friend of mine their tv was still under warranty so sent it back. Turned out there was nothing wrong with the actual set, it was the sky box needed to be upgraded. It had been working fine when originally connected.
It's the same wit xbox, DVD. Think it's some connectors hav got lose or something. Will have to get someone out to look at it as I ain't opening it.
My mate has a philips plasma with the same problem except his has thinner lines but more of them. When we investigated on the web , the most popular reason given was that the connecting ribbon accross the top or bottom had lifted. they sugguested trying to squeeze the frame of the telly to reconnect. We didn't try this though incase we messed it up altogether.
Got it looked at and they reckon the screen could be fcuked. Sickened, 2 years all in got out it. Anyone know if I could claim on home contents insurance policy?
If you have accidental damage on you policy you can say it got knocked over and claim for it. Otherwise don't think so as they will say its just wear and tear as they call it.
Not sure where you got it looked at but this looks like a connection problem to me not a screen problem. I don't mean to rub it in or anything but for anyone who's buying a new tv, I'd stay away from plasma. They are more expensive than lcd, use more leccy, are more prone to screen burn, more costly to fix, and have a shorter life span. Can't comment on LED as I don't know much about it, but I'd presume it(along with 3d) is the way forward. Edit. Send that pic to as many tv repair sites you can and see what they say. It looks like a problem they can really screw you on so it's best to get an idea of the cost before making any decisions. Sometimes in these cases, its better to go with the guy working out of his shed than the high street store.
if its under two years old it might be still covered by the warranty. i think most goods are now covered for two years
Yeah, nearly everything I've bought is only one year warranty(tv, dvd player, PS3). PS3 went tits up one month out of warranty last year.... I swear they fcukin know exactly when their products will need replacement
Lads heard Conor Pope (Irish Times consumer affairs) talking on the radio and under EU law all goods now have 24 months warranty.
always thought that all electrial products had a five years parts warranty but you paid for the labour
