There's a report in tomorrow's Sunday Times where he's reported to say "If I have to move from Anfield, I will. I'm not scared to leave"

According to Oliver Kay his contract is up in 2011

I can't see Carra ever leaving and finishing his career in the lower leagues or smaller premier league team...

And? He has made no secret of this in the past. He has stated before that if he wasn't makin the team for us over a prolonged period that he would consider leavin. No big deal imo, all professional soccer players want to be playing week in week out.

Says something similar in his book-about him not being afraid to leave, but only when the club tell him they don't want him any more.No doubt the quote will be taken out of context and the rags will be starting rumours of a transfer request:)

I think the last bit of love I have for the game will go if Carra is forced from the club, FFS have we not learned from the Sami situation we left the best defender we've had in a generation leave as we did'nt think he was worth a 2 year deal and although Carra is no Sami the whole situation is wrong the heart of the club will go when Carra goes as he is everthing what the club stands for.
Sami will still be playing come 2 years time and we'll still be regreting letting him go while wondering how much longer Degan has left on his contract and where the fcuk is he. Carra should be allowed to stay as long as he wants, could you imagine seen him in another teams jersey it would be like looking at Rush playing for Leeds, horrible

    Spot on mate..

Even to keep him around for his experience would be vital..It would give the young kids at the club some one to look up to..His heart and passion for this club is unquestionable and he should be allowed to do what ever he likes and stay for however he likes..He has played over 600 games for us and in those 600 games he has always got stuck in..

Cant imagine ever seeing him wearing different colours than the red of Liverpool..

Sami wanted more games. I dont think if Carra does decide to go at the end of his contract that he will have been forced out. I just think the kind of player he is, he will want to be playing every week, he is quoted this week as saying he will go abroad to do this when he doesn't have the legs for the very top level in England

I can't see Carra ever being forced out of the club. There will be a time though when he will no longer be first chioce and if then he decides that he wants to leave then he will go with all our blesssings.Other than that I think he should be offered whatever contract he wants whenever the time comes.

100% agree with ya man the only thing is that hes getting to the stage that hes been caught for pace at times and hel be the first to realize and admit that he could be costing the team..im not saying he is at the moment but the time will come..id prefer like all of us if he finished his career with the reds but we have to come to terms with the fact hes been a terrific servant to us and that the time will come for us to to serve him 100% with our respect for his decision whether its with us or not

Both Sami and Carra are up there in the best centre halves Liverpool have had no doubt. But offering Sami a 2 year contract would have been a mistake. He was gettin slower by the year and got shown up badly a few times in his final year or two. The pace of the premiership is much faster than any other league, its end to end stuff. He wasn't 1st choice for us and the Skertl/Carra pattnership was fantastic last season with Sami and Agger playin the odd game here and there. We all still love him and from what i've read since he left he still loves Liverpool. I think its was the best for him leaving because if all our centre backs were fit he woudn't get a game, and he wants to be 1st choice.
And as for Carra, wouldn't surprise me if he ends up leavin in 2/3/4 years time and finishin his career somewhere else. As he has said himself, he won't accept sittin on the bench every week. Hope it doesn't happen as he's the best defender at the club at the moment but its definately possible. But I don't think its anythin to worry about any time soon thankfuly

You are joking are'nt you, Sami never had pace but was miles quicker with his brain than anybody since Hansen, he's been the best defender in the Bundesliga this year and in the words of Franz Beckenbaur the main reason that Leverkusson are top, give me Sami over Skertel or Agger any day.

I for one wouldnt like to see carra go but however i do think he is not good enough for the first team but his knowledge of the game and his expierence is unquetionable so I dont think it would be a good idea to let him go. I think he could be a valuable member of the squad for the next few years if he's not starting then as cover

Nobody is saying anything about Carra being "forced out". In a couple of years Carra is going to have to make a discision about his final couple of years, he can choose
    - To stay and play a Scholes/Sami type role of 15-20 games per season.
    - Do a Beckham or Fowler and put the feet up and enjoy a less stressful existance in a different culture.
    - Can slug it out at Stoke, Blackburn, Sundeland etc playing 38 games a season.

Whatever happens the choice will be his IMO. I personally hope he takes up the 1st option, thats gonna take some character changing on his part but would be for the greater good of the club.

Totally agree. When the team was going through a rough patch last season around xmas Sami came into the team and was best player over that period. Had he still been around at the start of this season there would have been a lot less sloppy goals conceded. I can see why he moved on, however he has been a massive massive loss to the squad.

Replace the word mistake with masterstroke!!!!!!!!!! Pace is not everything and Sami is still a class centre-half!!

He was our 4th choice centre half last season, and was 35 at the end of the season, and is 36 now, since october, a one year contract would hav been fine but givin him 2 years would be crazy imo. Players that age can't expect anythin more than a 1 year contract. Ask arsene wenger.

in fairness mate, i wouldn't ask Wenger for his opinion on anything to do with a defence or goalkeeper - because i honestly don't think he has a clue.

Cygan, Senderos, Almunia, Fabianski, big arse Sol... come on.

Vermaelen could be argued, he scores goals but not a great defender IMO.
    clichy and sagna the exception.

Sami is meant to be flying with Leverkusen, we could do with him this season!! and possibly next, he is in great nick
