Hi, No prizes for guessing what's inspired this thread..... How about some of these lads: Isco - probably a very long shot, but might just be tempted if the stories are true about Real going after Hazzard. Lemar - has youth on his side so could possibly develop further, but possibly also a higher risk than some other players we could name. Draxler - might be glad of a move to the PL, despite only having landed in PSG a little while ago Eriksen - a cheeky move going after a PL player mid season, but Spurs have never been shy of doing a deal if the money is right and he's proven in the PL. So, would you go for one of the above or someone else, and why ?
Would go mad on Sanchez. When motivated and on form, much better than Coutinho and probably better than any current Liverpool player.
Nabil Fekir (Lyon ) think his potential is finally been reached and under Klopp could be world class .( Think he has a £60m buy out clause ) 16 goals 4 assits this season still only 24
Sanchez for me as well. Would throw 50/60 million at it and test arsenals resolve. I wouldn’t have minded Barkley at the price, think he lost his way a little. I really think however we need a keeper more than an attacking midfielder.
Mahrez for me. Minimal risk, but think what a player he could be under Klopp. Be a good addition to both the first team & squad in my humble opinion.
Klopp wanted Lemar last summer and he scored an absolute worldy the last time I saw him play (it was around the middle of August last year when we were rumoured to be in for him). I don't care if we blow the lot on one player as long as it's an attacking player that will terrify teams. VD has obviously completely fixed the defence so another attacking talent is absolutely necessary now that our best player is gone. If we got Sanchez it would be incredible but it's never going to happen though the thoughts of him working with Klopp is actually unbelievable, he could be unstoppable for 2 years or so until he'd want to head to PSG or one of the Spanish giants. Same would likely go for Lemar or whatever top talent we sign from abroad, the big Spanish clubs have a lifestyle that Liverpool can never match. I've just accepted that is life for us no matter what we do.
I don't think we will sign one in January. It makes no sense to complete this deal if we have someone in mind, the price just went through the roof. Telling Phil and Barca that we have started a deal and need 2 weeks would have been easily agreeable. I would prefer a keeper anyway, VVD and a proper keeper removes the need to score 3 or 4 just to win, 1 should be enough on plenty of occasions.
Griezmann. Would fit our style of play perfectly. Works hard, has bags of pace and an excellent finisher.
Sorry for going slightly off topic but as a direct replacement for Coutinho I think we already have him in Lallana. If we get him fit he's a very able replacement. As for players to bring in my knowledge outside the PL wouldn't be great. As far Mahrez I'm not all that sure about him, seems have one good game and 3 average. One player who can look amazing with a lot of potential is Lanzini. Only 24, he's a long long way from Coutinho but most are. If he was available at a reasonable price i wouldn't mind. He could do a lot better with quality players around him.
Lucas Moura was linked repeatedly and isnt getting much game time at PSG. Agree with Dan about Lanzini - could be a special talent with the right manager (Klopp obviously) Would take Draxler, Fekir, or Lemar in a heartbeat. Not so hot on Mahrez as others, seems to me to have one outstanding game then 2-3 anonymous ones. Same with Sanchez, can be brilliant of course but when he's not arsed - he's REALLY not arsed.
Marhez 7 goals and 10 assists this season In title winning season he had 17 goals and 11 assists Coutinho never got into double figures for assists in a season, his 13 league goals last season by far his best and only time in double figures 7 goals and 7 assists this season Not indentical players however until last season Coutinho’s goal output was always very erratic and for then amount of set pieces he took his assist record was never impressive
