Anyone flying into Birmingham on the early flight on the 24th train ticket prices are mad it would probably be cheaper to get a taxi down and if it is anyone want to get one down ???
Book two separate train tickets, either Birmingham International to Birmingham New Street then New Street to Lime Street or Birmingham International to Wolverhampton then Wolverhampton to Lime Street. Both will give you massive savings. No credit card charges on Virgin trains. Welcome to IK, would your dad be Liam?
I just did a quick search and most of the fares from New St to Lime St are 9.50. By any chance are you searching fares from the airport?
I was thinking of doing the sail and rail on Irish Ferries for this game but I was thinking I never hear anyone mentioning getting the train from Holyhead. Is there a reason for this? Like is the train station in the middle of nowhere?
Train stn beside ferry port, I'd say most get taxi because of timeframe between kickoff and departure/arrival
Sail and rail is fine one it works time wise It doesnt suit certain time kick offs Its grand for a late kick off if you plan on staying the night
Srarch from Birmingham new street to liverpool lime street sean thats the cheapest way normally From the airport take the free mono rail to the station and get a ticket there to new street Then when in new street chance onto the train to liverpool that you've booked your ticket for If that makes sense ?
Yeah I get you was looking there it was like 20 euro for a return to new street when I was looking earlier at the Birmingham international it was like 40 pounds each way. Also timing whise I can't remember last time I went though Birmingham airport on a return to Dublin does it take long ?
@seanoflano Just to add that if you're sure of your travel plans you should book the train ticket from New St to Lime St asap as the price could rise rapidly from here on. Don't worry about the single from the airport to New St as that is a standard fare of about 3 quid and can be purchased on the day.
Sometimes 2 singles works out cheaper than a return from new street to lime street, maybe check that also.
So would you say time wise for this it's a bit of a risk leaving after the game to get the 2:50 Ferry back.
Or taxi back either to make it. Spoke few lads in holyhead after city who had rented cars and drove back after the game also.
Great thanks. Anyone want to share a taxi or can I get a lift off someone please, whoever is on the 2:40 boat back to Dublin?
