Succession took me a couple of goes to get into for that reason. I have no recollection of ever watching anything before that where everybody is written to be unlikeable. Wonder if its about to be more common?
Yeah that's another one. Billions maybe. Definitely becoming more common. If I was a writer I'd say it would be easier to write everyone as a prick, you get more zingers and confrontation. But not sure of the balance for the viewer. Just my take, I know the shows are hugely popular and it doesn't make any difference if I watch them or not.
I still found with succession that I swung in and out of rooting for one of them over others at different times depending on who was being more of a prick at that moment. Except the big tall husband of the daughter, I detested him more than the others for a reason I can't really quantify.
I'm with Ed. If you gave me 3 punches to be divided out between the whole cast, I'd punch that fucker 3 times.
He'd get right in under your skin, I saw him in something else afterwards, totally different character, hated instantly still.
Big budget HBO series just started this week The Last Of Us. Apocalyptic stuff which these days no longer feel too far fetched fantasy. Decent watch. Pedro (GoT, Narcos, Mandolorian) Pascal. With The Walking Dead wrapping up couple months ago this should fill the gap.
I haven't had time for tv shows for months but I will find time for The Last of Us. I'd prefer to wait until the season ends before starting it but the OH doesn't want to wait that long. It's off to a great start from what I hear.
Loved the two seasons of White Lotus. As Gary said unlikable characters but does it by accentuating all their negative traits. First two episodes of last of us were gripping. I think it looks like it could be great . I didn’t play the game but my son did and he is well into the series now too
Godfather of harlem is coming back next month I believe. I absolutely love that show. Someone else mentioned how succession didn’t have a single likeable character and yeah that’s the sad thing about it, if that’s the modern way of making modern tv series then it’s regrettable because it leaves you feeling pissed off regardless of who has a good day in the show. You’re irritated by them all, you can get that at work without needing a remote. We don’t need a superman, just one person out of 100 who you would feel mildly bad for if they fell out of their billionaire dad’s chopper would have helped a smidgen.
I am not really a gamer so was going to pass on this, but the reviews I am seen have it back on the maybe list. Its going down very well.
Never heard of the game to be honest but enjoying the show none the less. what format was the game on?
I played it on PS3. I think it was on PS4 as well. The look of the show is very true to the game. It's been excellent so far imo.
