That's not terribly many to be fair, I'm only worried about him turning inot a30 goal a season man. If he can ever get to converting channces with his physical attributes he's going to score a lot of goals. But we dont' have the luxury of sitting around waiting for that to happen.
Its about getting his confidence back. 34 goals in 41 appearances for Benfica the season before we signed him, shows a player capable of scoring goals at an elite rate. When players who are prolific in Portugal,France,Holland etc. struggle with the crossover,it's generally down to them not being able to get as many chances as they did in a poorer league, but that wasn't the case with Nunez,he had no problem getting chances. He's also proven he can create at an elite rate. I've a bet with a lad in work that we'll get 50 million euro for him, because so many clubs now are looking for unrealised value, and they'll see that in him. If he got his chance conversion rate to an even half decent level, while creating chances at a similar rate, 50 million euro would be an absolute steal. Can he? I've no idea, but Im pretty sure there's plenty of scouting departments out there who will think it's worth the gamble.
I think your bet wins if he goes to Saudi, however not if he stays in Europe. Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s one of them Loan with an option to buy things. From an accounting perspective, that seems to work well.
Silly season already. LFC apparently have approached KDB. Not something you would think FSG would consider but hey you never know…
Seems unlikely alright but given DeBruyne didn't want to leave City, it might have been worth us having a chat with him. Maybe another season or two where he doesn't have to uproot his family, and where he can play for the club he supported as a kid is an attractive prospect for him? And maybe that attraction for him would see him do it for less money than is available to him elsewhere? Even looking at it like that,it's still a huge longshot,or to be more accurate, head in the clouds nonsense, but how fun would it be to have him in tbe squad?
Just signing him to annoy City would be enough. It would be a a bit like Lampard going to City and playing against Chelsea that time.
Silly season or not, I'd absolutely love it. I know it was quarter of a century ago, but Gary McAllister was arguably one of the best free transfers we ever got at 35... game is faster now but the players are fitter. Taking the name of this thread firmly into account, I would take him in a heartbeat.
I've only seen glimpses of KBD this season and I have to say I've thought he looks like a guy that's gone over the hilll but it might be that he needs a change of scenery. Hasn't he had a lot of big injuries in the last few seasons too? Not sure I'd be interested in him with the wages he'd be looking for and I don't think he would have the energy that we need from our midfielders. I think a stint in Italy might suit him now with a slower pace of play the PL won't suit him anymore at his age in my opinion.
Has anybody watched a bit of Frimpong? The rumours are gathering pace and I genuinely couldn't have picked him out of a line up before yesterday.
Liverpool are advancing in talks to sign Jeremie Frimpong after contacts reported last week. Understand #LFC approached Bayer Leverkusen to discuss €35m release clause structure. Talks also underway on player side with Frimpong keen on joining Liverpool. @tapinmerchant Bradley and Frimpong for the season so. See how it goes. If he works out then brilliant plus fantastic price. If he doesn't work out then sell him on and we'll still make a profit. Kerkez and hopefully Huijsen to follow and defensive signings done
The three of those have release clauses said to be around £130m (Frimpong €35m, Kerkez and Huijsen £50m each). Sell Gomez (sorry Joe) and Tsimikas for ~£40m, net salary cost probably stays the same, defence sorted for the next 4 years, great bit of business.
I've seen him player twice for Leverkusen, usually plays as the right sided wingback in a back 5, which obviously means he has a massively license to roam forward. Not going to lie, I don't know how well he would be suited to a back four defensively but our laptop chaps know a hell of a lot about football than I do. Lad has winger stats, got 14 goals last season, 5 goals & 6 assists this season.
The little I watched of him at Celtic he looked impressive. He's obviously kicked on with a very successful year under Xabi last season but as a wingback as mentioned. Seems a good talent. Certainly sorted for RB with both him and Conor if the links are true.
Real Madrid had a direct contact with Dean Huijsen’s camp and player’s priority is confirmed. Real also registered release clause details: £50m to be paid in 3 installments, not in one solution. Timing will be key as Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are ready to advance. If Real want him then he's going there. He's a Real fan and Ramos is his hero.
Reckon he could be sold to PSG this summer. I can’t see the club letting it run down. If he doesn’t sign a new deal and won’t move for a fee, let him Train with kids for the season. In hindsight that could have been option with Trent and a sign a replacement last summer. Probably still win the league
