I wonder if there is any truth in those rumours, cynic in me thinks it is more PR bollix to keep fans engaged. If we move from monitoring to interested to considering opportunities to potentially making a move then you never know. There is a massive chance to be taken with the League this year with one or two signings, I'm sure Slot has targets assessed, let's just hope the owners & recruitment team do their part.
The funny thing while signing the Georgian lad who give us all the horn, another left sided attacker is the last thing we need. Sign a CM to share the minutes with Jones, Gravenberch, Sobo & MacAllister & a left sided CB and we win the league. Hincapie & Baleba for me.
I’d say he’s is on Edwards/Hughes list as a possibility, depending on our outgoings Liverpool handed major Khvicha Kvaratskhelia boost Writing in RMC Sports, the reliable French journalist Fabrice Hawkins, has shed light on the current situation surrounding PSG and Kvaratskhelia. The report claims that PSG have a strong desire to bring Kvaratskhelia in however the French side are currently struggling to meet Napoli's €80m transfer demands. Hawkins claims that PSG cannot afford that fee and can only sign Kvaratskhelia if they can make a big sale in the window. Unless that happens, PSG will not be able to afford the Georgian star. Not to mention Napoli's desired replacement for Kvaratskhelia also appears to be Federico Chiesa, which again can make negotiations easier for Liverpool if they are willing to give up the Italian for the Georgian winger.
BREAKING: Interest in Darwin Nunez from Saudi is genuine. There has been conversations to understand the situation of Darwin Nunez. [@FabrizioRomano] Sam McGuire@SamMcGuire90·6m EXC: Liverpool turn down a first offer for Darwin Nunez. Michael Edwards is handling negotiations and believes he can get asking price for the striker. https://anfieldwatch.co.uk/liverpool-fc/news/exclusive-liverpool-darwin-nunez-al-hilal/ rejected £70m
It's the right thing to do if we can move him on but that's assuming they've someone lined up to replace him, he doesn't suit us, we don't suit him and I think the squad can be improved significantly by replacing him. If it's a non immediate replacement I see no point in selling.
I'd be 99.9% certain he does mate, and if Nunez stays you'll see thats the case, when Nunez sees a lot more game time than Danns. But that's a lot of money though for the club to turn down, for a player who isn't first choice. I'd turn it down, because winning the league is all I care about, but if that offer is genuine, it suggests to me they've already convinced Nunez to come.
He forgets more about football on a daily basis than I'll ever know in my life so if Slot wants him moved on so be it! As long as it's the coaches call and not the accountants because the league win is the only priority right now!
Interesting alright. I think we are sorted with Gravenberch and other areas need more attention. Does he play a same deep lying role as rice? Strange enough deal. Arteta could be gone by the summer if this season goes south.
You need at least two players for each position and Gravenberch is the only out and out 6 we have, and that is only after playing half a season there. If he is injured, I think the team suffers when you put MacAllister or Jones there, that is not their natural position and it takes from where they are more effective. He obviously does not want to use Endo as a 6 - although he's been filling in well from time to time as a makeshift centre half. I don't think we are sorted in the no. 6 with just Gravenberch at all. Hopefully he stays injury free, but it's not just injuries either, as the season goes on you need to be able to share the minutes or he'll get burnt out.
It's so easy to stick Saudi in an rumour. Someone like that tap merchant should at least have the balls to name the team. I haven't been paying much attention but all seems a lot quieter on the Saudi front. They have their world cup bid, maybe its job done already?
To not sign anyone this window just smacks of having an unsurmountable amount to do in the summer, for a club that for one reason or another, has struggled to actually sign players recently. Based on nothing more than my opinion on watching Slots team over the past 6months I have come for the following wide-ranging and potentially deluded conclusions: He doesn't really fancy Elliott, Morton or Endo as starters. MacAllister, Jones, Sobo & Gravenberch are his 4, so we could easily carry another midfielder of his choosing, 5 players for 3 positions. Robertson needs replacing, I would argue myself that Tsimikas was first choice before his last injury. Darwin, the wonderful frustrating lunatic enigma, is not going to become the forward we all crave. Slot knows it as well. So there are 3 positions to potentially fill already. And that's before you even consider the contracts. Worse case scenario if things remain as is, LFC could be in the position to have to replace 5/6 first team players in the summer including the best right back, center back & winger in the league. Like what the fuck are we doing here. RB, CB, LB, CM, WG, ST. And not squad players, starters.
Yeah, you would definitely hope for a bit more incremental signings instead of major overhauls. I'm not entirely sure why it is the case. If there are players that are being watched and we have a hope of signing one now rather than 3-4 in the summer would it not be better to get the business done and also possibly contribute to the team before the end of the season. We effectively signed no one in the summer in terms of adding to the team. We signed no one last January. You had a bit of an overhaul of the midfield summer before last. But that was at a stage where we were desperately in need having lost Hendo, Fabinho, Ox, Milner, Keita and Firmino, with the likes of a perma-crocked and aging Thiago still in the squad. If we hadn't done it at that point we would have been playing kids, which is quite bizarre in a club as big as Liverpool. We thankfully pulled it off but integrating one or two players at a time has got to be a better chance of gradual integration and maintaining of levels than the risk involved in major surgery every few years. I think they did the right thing in not over committing in the summer with Slot coming in but I'd imagine he knows at this point who he wants to continue working with and who he doesn't. On the plus side hopefully this means that we are going to see at least Van Dijk and Salah tied down to new contracts, two less places to cover in the summer.
I still think we're short in midfield department specifically the position of Gravenberch. He's played a lot of minutes and I'm sure the sports science is showing him all good but nothing an injury wouldn't have us in a panic over. I don't see much trust in Endo from Slot and I find the call to again loan out Bajcetic a risky one. It's all well and good thinking Mac can take the role but i think we then lose his talent in his current role linking. Injuries cost us a title last year and with only 1 signing in Chiesa, a position we're well stacked in you'd wonder what's the logic here from the nerds. 3 of our greatest ever players are free to walk away in 4 months time. It's all getting very frustrating.
