I also think Mahrez would be a no brainer. He plays across the midfield and not just on the wing and would give us an option.
A lad in work told me Steven Nzonzi has a 36m release clause. He's a good player and I think he could play in our midfield. Not a "guaranteed" starter but he wouldn't weaken us much if he played instead of Can,Wijnaldum.
The way I see it mate is Klopp isnt going to shell out big money for players who he's not 100% convinced are going to make a big splash. An understudy for Coutinho and Lallana doesn't seem to be on the cards and an upgrade seems an impossibility at this point but we're short of numbers.Nzonzi is a player that seems to tick a lot of the boxes of a Klopp player while available at a price he might be willing to meet. He's not a player that would excite me but he's an excellent athlete and very proficient technically. We were one injury today away from James Milner starting in midfield and Nzonzi pisses all over him at this stage of their career.Ideally I only want players better than what we have but we're reaching the time for pragmatism.
But isn't he basically another Henderson, it's not what we need imo. I don't know a lot about him but he didn't set the world alight at Stoke. We need a footballer in there, we're good for legs, I think we need brain and passing in there.
Whatever about improving the first XI, if the Michael Edwards and Klopp can't find better players than those on the bench today, the club is in serious trouble. If the club needs to use any of those players (aside from Milner) for five games in a row, it's a massive massive downgrade. Kaboul looked like he needed come off and pulled something. Chance he had to come off. He not have worried, on came Origi to give him his handiest 10 minutes of the season. Not sure what has happened him, looks a shadow of the player of 15/16
Im not going to pretend to be an expert on his game mate,he's always impressed me when Ive watched him over the years though and I see him as a combative midfielder who does the defensive side well but also has the ability to link the play but yes,I think you're right,he's not going to bring penetration.
Know feck all about him either, I'd take anything now just for a lift, just to see our transfer people are actually capable of completing a transfer.
There's plenty better out there that we should go for. Season has started, and we've less than £50m spent on players. This was a summer with £200m to spend and CL football to offer so we could attract the next bracket of player and we're now discussing bringing in Nzonzi ffs. Only we could make a total fcul up of it.
Just to clarify mate it was me who suggested Nzonzi to see what people thought. As far as im aware Klopp has no interest in him.
Last few yrs we had nothing to offer so we couldn't attract top level players. This year we have CL football so we go after 2 players we haven't a chance of signing and offer mad money for them. Now its a plus plus situation. We Have qualified for the CL We have backed the manager with top bids for the players he wants. we have shown the fans we are willing to splash the cash. We have told Barca to FCUK OFF We are back. Only thing we need to do now is tell pip that he is staying and will leave under our conditions. One thing I see from this window is that buyout clauses are gone. A club will not sign a contract with a buyout clause anymore.
Let's say Coutinho leaves i would throw in A 70 million bid for Eriksen or Alli. If anything just to unsettle Spurs and see would Levy bite. He probably wouldn't however if LFC where to double or treble their wages, it might entice the player and force the club into the deal. Personally think over last three years Eriksen has been more consistent than Coutinho although May have reached his peak.
If Coutinho leaves,we throw in a bid for either of them and dont get them,it will only add to the sense of doom among supporters.I also think Eriksen is a downgrade on Coutinho but realistically there's nobody coming in the door this summer who isn't. Ali is going nowhere on this side of 100m.Levy doesn't fuck about when he's selling players. On a sidenote does anybody find it strange that not one club in Europe has been seriously linked with trying to sign Harry Kane?
Ali more like £150m in today's market , but Eriksen is a good replacement call but still feel they would ask for £100m
We need two centre backs and a goalkeeper as a priority. Forget about Phil's replacement for now. If we have 100m there anyway plus 130m for Phil burning a hole in the clubs pockets it would be criminal not to spend at least 150m on the defence. We tighten up the defence and i believe we have a chance of silverware otherwise the policy of outscoring every team we play won't work.
As much as I agree mate, a goaly wasn't anywhere near a priority this summer for some insane reason and after 2 years of looking for a LB we buy one and don't play him so I have no hopes that the money will be spent on what's needed. A centre back will surely have to come in but again they seem to have no alternatives to VVD.
Personally feel Van beside Matip will bring the best out of Matip ,just give Southampton a offer of £60m today .
