This season might have been one where you could win the league like that until City had other ideas. Though even without City being on such a phenomenal run, Man U aren't even averaging 2 points a game. We needed 75 and 76 points to get 4th in 2017 and 2018. They're projecting less than that. The lack of ambition from their manager and their supporters is a bit strange. We've had a collapse that was unimaginable yet they're only 7 points clear of us and delighted about what they're doing. Mourinho broke 80 points with them, things could pick up but it's hard to see Solksjaer do it with them.
This will be the 4th season in the last 5 that was won with an incredible winning sequence before Christmas*. City didn't become shit last year, we just broke them. We didn't become shit this year, injuries broke us and a combination of a little bit of everything else. We will still finish 2nd and next year both City and ourselves will be 15 points ahead of Utd. *this years wasn't before Christmas but would've been games wise in normal circumstances.
Yeah that was it. Rooney and Ronaldo just ripping teams to bits and then Ferguson going with conservative tactics in the big games. Couple of really bad games for LFC that season were the difference.
Too many draws killed us. Wasn't till around March and utd won their games in hand that Rafa took the leash off the team but too late. Utd never blinked and that villa game with Macheda was sickening.
Redknapp getting slaughtered for that exchange with Keane yesterday, and it was funny but if you look at what they were both actually saying, Redknapp was making a lot more sense than Keane.
Keane makes a lot of sense until he turns into Roy Keane. The decibel levels go up and sense goes out the window
3 draws stuck out for me that season Hull at home , Wigan away and Arsenal at home was what did it that year
The comment about anyone getting to play for their country was a crazy one in particular. He has a problem with Matt Doherty from the time with O’Neill so he was looking to stick the boot in about him too.
I think his punditry is a great window into why he's a shit manager. He judges every situation on how things should be but if everything was as it should be,managing would be easy. A lot of the time you'll think "yeah,he's right" but then you step back and wonder what is he actually right about? Nobody is going to argue that Liverpool shouldn't just go out and take care of Sheffield United, but its not exactly great insight and there's a lot of reasons why it was a real possibility we wouldn't,reasons he has no interest in.
City will obviously get more but I don't see 2nd 3rd 4th clearing 76 points Mcateer was on LFC TV a couple of weeks ago after Keane tore in to Liverpool and said they were the worst champions ever, he said Keane holds on to stuff and waits a while to get his own back, that was for klopp pulling him on the "sloppy" comment. Sounds like he did the same with Doherty yesterday.
The way city are going they're going to break Liverpool's record from last season and win the league with 7+ games to go.
Thankfully won't happen. Even if City win their next 3 games to go on 74 points after 30 games, Utd could lose their next 4 games taking them upto 30 and still have 24 points to play for(8 games) so could still technically catch them with goal difference. Correct me if I'm wrong but we just need 1 Utd win in their next 4 games to make sure our record of 7 games remaining isn't even matched.
Last 3 games for them are United, Chelsea and Spurs. If within 4 points of them with 3 games to go, would fancy over taking them
A defeat for Villa away to 10 man Sheffield United is another good result for us, considering Villa were only 4 points behind us with 2 games in hand. Villa are pretty much ruled out of top 4 now imo.
United dropping points tonight and have city away the weekend. If we win our 2 home games we could be 2 points behind united. I’m getting way ahead of myself but could we end up 2nd ?.
They looked very poor tonight, they dont look like a team that is 2nd in the premier league. it would be some turn around to be 2 points off 2nd come sunday evening, must win 2mara night first.
I don't normally look at other teams fixtures. But just noticed West Ham are having some break between games. They played at 12.30 last Sat 27th Feb against City. Next game is against Leeds on Mon 8th Mar.
If rangers win on Saturday it puts serious pressure on Celtic in their game the following day, anything less than a win and rangers are champions. Would celtic have to give rangers a guard of honour at home in the next game?
