It's amazing that towards the end of the season I seen De Gea make 4 mistakes(If memory serves me correctly. Could be 3) across two games. Peno, miskick pass and putting the ball out. Anyways my point is off topic but there was not a mention of it anywhere. Fine margains separating the good from the bad
Rumours that Roma are lining up Leno to replace Alisson.Would rather have us get Leno. Leno would be cheaper, is a better shot stopper and would not have to travel far on international duty compared to Alisson. Although, have to say Alisson is more dynamic and better with his distribution. Depends what kind of keeper Klopp wants.Seems to me he favours the latter. I would throw Alex McCarthy into the equation as an outside bet. Done well since replacing Forster at Southampton and only has 1 year left on his contract. I’d keep an eye out for Nick Pope next season as well. Was excellent in the game at Anfield and could be a good long term prospect.
It's interesting, more and more there's people posting here suggesting that they'd rather X, Y or Z, ahead of Alisson.
Still in the game v Barca he still kept the score much lower than the 4-1? Still would have rated him a 7/8 out of ten even with the mistake he made . He palmed the ball into the path of I think pique for a tap in .
If you compared him with Oblak, where do you see their key strengths and weaknesses ? (sorry, just that you seem to be reasonably well up on european football, so curious)
I've been banging the drum for Alisson, and enjoyed watching Roma last season Garrett so I'll offer my opinion if I may. He's a fantastic shot stopper. Very quick back to his feet, seen him make numerous double saves. He's a "parryier" rather than a catcher, but in this day and age most keepers are. Quick off his line. Decent with the ball at his feet. Wouldnt be the most dominant keeper ever in the air, seems to rely more on his CB's (and Dzeko). His distribution is quick but is prone to misjudging the ball out to the FB on the halfway line and finding touch rather than the player. If signed I would expect his distribution to be worked on immediately given our style of play. I'll have to leave Oblak to others as I've really only seen him maybe half a dozen times but if he's as good as reported then I am going to (for today only) change my mind on Don Balon, and recognize them as the bastion of truth they are, and be happy with their report that we've lodged a 79m bid for Mr.Oblak and fully expect a deal to follow quickly.
Oblak plays behind a very defensive side , it would work love interesting to see him in a more offensive side . Both very good keepers on their day , both very good shot stoppers with Alison more a sweeper type keeper and Oblak like to stay in his box where Alisson will bring the ball out a lot more .When it comes to errors leading to goals they would rank very similar. Oblak just doesn’t make mistakes , where Alisson can be prone to , think he had 4/5 this season leading to one goal v Barca . I’d guess Alisson is more suited to us with the quickness he gets the ball moving back into play , likes his back 4 to push into a high line , his passing his excellent for a keeper
New Madrid manager is close to both De Gea and his agent. The fact that he is also the current Spain manager and will see De Gea every day for the next few weeks might strengthen that bond. Alisson's options might be more limited by this appointment which might benefit us.
Just googled now and seen about the new Madrid manager. I didn't hear about it all day. My head must have been burried. I wonder will it have a knock on effect to Spain in the World Cup?
He has just been sacked! How could he coach the Barca players in the World Cup them knowing that is the Real manager also. Real was forced to make a statement as the longer it went on, the more it appeared that they were being snubbed.
I don't see any issue with the Barca players having to play for him in the summer, honestly don't think it should have been an issue. Looks to me like the Spanish FA have thrown their toys out of the pram on this one.
Don’t think they have , both manager and Madrid showed lack of respect to the Spainish FA . Should of have spoken in private with the FA , like they asked Spurs could they speak with Poch
I don't disagree that Real were classless as expected in how they approached it and the manager could certainly have waited until after the WC to make a decision but the Spanish FA are bound to act in the best interests of the team heading into the WC instead of a face saving exercise which looks incredibly petty to me. If they believe this is best for the team then this is a fair decision but I can't see how getting rid of the manger on the eve of the WC can ever be considered a good idea but only time will tell. Only winning the WC will ultimately vindicate them because everything else leaves a what if scenario for people to dwell on.
