I am looking forward to the Ryder Cup, not a huge golf fan bar the majors but Ryder cup Sunday if its tight is great TV.
Was watching the Harrington press conference and it was referenced that Brooks Koepka said the tournament was an inconvenience. Throw in his ‘feud’ with De Chambeau its setup for a Europe win I think. The US are just not as into it as the Europeans.
America has the advantage in terms of the quality of the players both in terms of overall rankings and I think even from an objective point of view they have the better players but this always tends to be the case for them. But there's some unquantifiable things that come into play in matchplay and particularly the Ryder cup being team events for the first two days. If things don't go well for the US early doors I can see that tension causing them big problems and you might get lads losing the heads with it but Europe need to overperform and the US need to underperform for us to win it. Will be an intriguing few days of theatre either way and the partisan crowd should make it quite the spectacle.
Very little interest in golf, even the majors. Love the Ryder Cup. One of the best sporting events there is.
Not even the thousands of "get in the hole" knob heads are going to stop me enjoying this. Friday booked off n'all.
Ryder Cup weekend is a great time to get the snip lads…3 days of door to door golf plus all the rest…footy, boxing, USC etc and you have the ultimate hall pass to get the kids and wife outta the house to enjoy it all in wonderful peace. The wife even bought me ice cold beer so I could drink and ice the Crown Jewels
Would have thought there was easier ways to get to watch a weekend of sport than that but look it's worked out in the end so whatever it takes!
Just to be clear I didn't do it just to get a free weekend of sport...although that was a beautiful by-product!
America is such a huge country but no matter the part the fans are as dopey as each other. Its quite an achievement, worth studying how they are all such fucking ejjits.
Is it really over at 6-2? USA playing really strong and its theirs to lose but after Medina you can never say never. Those couple of half points last night could be crucial.
I really thought Europe's biggest hope was yesterday, get up in the early games and the US team might start to question themselves. Everything is setup now for them with a raucous home crowd and their players all in much better form than ours. It feels like a procession now for the US. Casey and McIlroy in particular have been very disappointing for me.
