I think it was the PGA that wasn't televised anywhere. Good that we will be able to watch uninterrupted coverage this year.
Might be of interest to some. Extra tickets for the Open in Portrush to go on sale on 15th April. https://www.bbc.com/sport/golf/47786061
Genuine question mate as somebody who knows fuck all about golf but why are so many so desperate to see Woods back winning? He's always come across as a prick,a poor loser and not the most gracious winner either.
Tiger is a different Tiger now than he was before. He's more open and more relaxed. People want to see him do well because of the rapid drop he took, where he disappeared off the radar in golf terms. Not many players have taken the slump he has (mental and physical problems), and come back to be contenders for majors.
This is pretty much it. He was top of the world for long time and then his decline was steep. I’d say many people would have given up given the wealth he has, however he has sort of remade himself, seems more open and generally a nicer guy. Even when he was at the top of the game, I’d agree he was not the most personable, however did not come across as bad some of the other top golfers who did not win half as much.
Im not sure I buy that a man who by many accounts is obsessed with his brands ability to generate as much money as possible has become a person worthy of the kind of goodwill he gets and hasnt just adjusted to his circumstances, but maybe he is a changed person who deserves all this new admiration for going out and competing again and deserves the benefit of the doubt, people often change for the better. Googling him there I see he's happy to go out playing with Trump who I'd consider one of the world's worst people,so from a personal point of view I hope he shoots 20 over on the first day before pulling out with an injury on the second day.
I like Tiger Woods, he was my golfing idol growing up but most definitely a very flawed person but he changed the game of golf forever. Do I like him as a person? No I'd say most definitely not, he comes across as a prick but I've no ambition to meet or spend time with him. His new persona strikes me as what he thinks is his best way to win now in an adjusted golfing landscape whereby he is not the hunter anymore, he's a ferocious competitor, he hasn't changed at all he just needs to win a different way. I like the golfer, loved how he played the game and still want him to win, I give him some slack due to the way his father basically robbed his childhood of him, can't be easy to deal with it.
Trump is the president of America, I'm not sure how he got elected, but he did. Just because Woods will play with him doesn't mean he would vote for him. It's a PR stunt, if nothing else. If I was asked to play a round of golf with Trump for €1m, I'd do it.
I'd play a round of golf with Trump for a million too but theres nothing Tiger Woods gained from those rounds that he needs. He chose to give Trump that credibility and while I'm not asking anybody else to judge him for it,I do. When Woods first came onto the scene he talked about the racism he faced at golf clubs and how hard it was. I'm not saying Woods should be an activist on race issues, that shouldn't be forced on anybody who doesn't want it and I'm not saying Woods should have took any sort of a public stand when turning down those rounds of golf, but Trump has helped create countless more cases of the type of situations Woods had to deal with and much worse besides. He could have politely turned down the opportunity and not added toTrumps credibility,he chose not to.
I think it's just human nature. Woods wins everything so people want him to fail. Woods doesn't win a major for 10 years and has numerous major injuries so people want him to roll back the years. I'm like that myself with him anyway. I was always a Phil man rather than Tiger
I always love the story of the person who had to struggle to get to the top. Fight through the knockouts and naysayers. I find it hard to take to Woods.
