The general view I'm watching is that even if he gets the vote of confidence the writing is on the wall

Worst outcome possible for the Tories. 41% of the party don't have confidence in him, effectively making them a lame duck government. The leaks will keep coming meaning scandal after scandal. But there can't be another heave against him for a year and none of the rebels are going to want an election anytime soon. So it will have to be his decision to step down which would mean him caring enough that they can't govern properly(yeah right) or the pressure just becoming too much for him which also seems unlikely to me given he's a sociopath.

It's cheap money they're trying to get rid of, I know it sounds nuts but interest rate increases are the only real lever to tackle inflation. The rates have been in negative territory for so long now.

What I took from that exchange is that Varadkar thinks people who live in caravans are vagabonds and if that's not the firsr thing the media are looking for clarification on from Varadkar, then we need to stop pretending we don't have an MSM that normalises casual racism and bigotry. It hasn't exactly been a week the Irish media can be proud of. The trans and traveller community are still acceptable targets, we treat white European refugees far better than those who aren't, and if we're not at least calling a man who has form for bigotry out on those comments then there's a lot more questions to be asked. That wasn't an off the cuff comment,it was a rehearsed response to a dig about his own behaviour. There was no need whatsoever to bring caravans into it, the man is a scumbag.

There's plenty of that kind of classist shite from him, and let's not forget that he gave a speech in the Dail about how gay couples shouldn't be parents. Then the polls moved on that issue to where he felt comfortable enough to come out as gay himself and have a Road To Damascus conversion on the issue(just like with abortion). So either he genuinely felt gay couples don't make fit parents at the time,or he didn't believe that but was happy to say it for political purposes. Either way, he was willing to deny equality to gay people.

Doherty certainly knows the buttons to push. Personally think it is great craic and hope to see more of it.

Minus the casual bigotry as outlined above. Leo is for the chop after the next election and won't get to lead opposition against the SF FF government.

    The man is a clown.

it's embarrassing, they go on like a bunch of kids.
Doherty loses the cool too easy and is prone to roaring and shouting unfortunately, probably not going to lose that trait at this stage in his life.

Leaders questions was on in House of Commons in the cafe I was in. It was nuts, question after question to Boris on a wide range of issues. He didn’t answer one of them straight, long winded monologues on nothing. Actually quite entertaining if some of the issues were not so serious. Man makes Michael Martin look capable

It was probably a good shot by Leo against Peasre having assaulted a Garda, that will stand out in people's minds about him for quite some time and might help them pull some of the middle who have concerns about SF and their seeming ties to criminal elements into sharper focus. What I thought of immediately though was where Leo got the information about Pearse. Would that be public record considering he didn't actually get a criminal record for it or is Leo going to end up in the soup again for using nefarious means to get this.

Either way FG and FF are under serious pressure right now and in full on deflection mode. SF would do well to bide their time now and not risk collapsing this Government too soon. Assuming a recession is imminent they'd be best served leaving things settle first and hopefully catching a fair wind as things start to recover.

you'd wonder why they didn't pull that rabbit out of the hat last year when Matt carthy accused Simon Harris of leaking cabinet meeting information.
