Great result. Didn’t see the game as I’m traveling to France . Pity Chelsea are top but all that matters in who’s top in may. 3 hard away games out of the way where most of our rivals could drop points. Southampton should be 6/6. Chelsea should beat West ham. Then some game at the bridge
Usually the third centre back thing that has backfired was actually bringing on a player to play as a third centre back. The last couple of times with Matip it's been him at centre back and Gomez at right back which is a bit different . The extra height should in theory help us in those last few mins when teams launch balls long. Didn't work today though. Great result. Some real wasteful finishing/poor final ball choice from our forwards. Signing a couple of top midfielders has had a great effect on Gini and Milner
As klopp would say we haven't hit full throttle football as of yet. That said it's great to see us picking up points.
Two much made of the same game last year, we were terrible and they were solid, reversed this year. Happy days with the win, you can't argue with 5/5
On another day we would have bettered them 6-1. They were lucky to get away with the odd goal defeat. And we march on !!!!
He is prone to plenty of gaffs as well. His mistake in World Cup final being one. Saw one against I think Sweden last year as well. During their 'title challenge' one year he threw two in during a big game. Far superior than Vorm and your right he probably does not let both those in, but he is overrated.
We are a totally different prospect to what we were last year, I'd say we're absolutely horrible to play against! We're comfortable sitting deep with 8 behind the ball and confident enough in almost all scenarios yo defend with Salah, Mane and Bobby up the field. If we get a lead in a game against any opposition they're in huge trouble!
To be honest I dont think the officials even copped it. Vertongen had his hands up in Bobbys face, but in all fairness you'd have to be a Shao Lin monk to manage to get your finger in someones eye with a blind swing on purpose. My problem with it, is accident or not, Bobby couldve lost an eye
Early signs are that Bobby isn't too bad, thankfully ... that said, could have rightly fuked him up in terms of his sight. Aside from the above, we did okay, could have had 4-5 on another given day, but leaving there with another 3 points in the bag can only be described as a decent day out.
