    Welcome aboard...

Liverpool have agreed a deal with PEC Zwolle for the transfer of Sepp van den Berg, which will be completed in July subject to international clearance.

The 17-year-old defender has finalised terms on a long-term contract with the Reds after an agreement was reached with the Eredivisie club.
Van den Berg told Liverpoolfc.com: “It’s just an amazing feeling.

“It is, for me, the biggest club in the world and it’s a dream come true. I am really excited.

“I’ve seen what kind of players from the Academy grew into the first team here. It is unbelievable, especially when this kind of big club does that.

“Of course, the trainer [Jürgen Klopp] is a great guy and one of the reasons they are successful – and also one of the reasons I came here.

“I think this is the best place for me to grow and hopefully play a lot of games here

Van den Berg made 15 appearances in the Dutch top flight last season, helping Zwolle to a 13th place finish.

He is also an international for the Netherlands at U19 level, winning four caps to date.

Interesting clause to get the extra £3.1m add on

There is an appearance based clause in the deal, but Melissa Reddy reported that it will only be triggered if the centre-back played an incredible 350 times for the Reds in Premier League and across European competitions.

Fuck if he plays 350 times he has been a huge success

I can't say I knew a single thing about this lad, before I did a quick bit of online research.

Hopefully a good buy and a regular in years to come.

It would be the best value £3.5 million ever spent on a footballer.

I like this kind of signing that goes completely under the radar. The fact that the player has been signed so early in the transfer window goes to show that undoubtedly Sepp Van Den Berg has been extensively scouted by the club. The track record of signings in recent summer windows has been excellent. I look forward to seeing the player get some game time in pre-season matches.

Just watched highlights of under 23s against wolves at weekend... I hope it was just a bad day at the office for Van DerBerg
Won 4-3, he was probably at fault for 2 of theirs...

Brewster and Jones looked really good though..

Funny the way it works isn't it, you've two players who did well that you might comment on but the usual reaction is to go the player who's had a bad game.

That's not my usual reaction at all to be honest with ya.... I'm not one for slating players but his performance from what I saw was as poor as Jones and Brewster were good.
I doubt he'll ever read this so I'm sure he'll be fine.
I was commenting on a players performance on a forum... Nothing to get worked up about....

If fairness he gave an overview of what he saw in the highlights. He's hardly going out looking for faults from the player.

Sorry I was commenting more in general than anything personal so I didn't intend it come across as any kind of slight against you. It's just a general thing that a players thread is more likely to get pinged for a bad performance than it is for a good one and it just fit nicely as you'd given two players good reviews and one lad a poor one but it was the poor one that got pinged.
