Sale was postponed today due to upgrade work.
Think it would be bad form to scrap the game. There was always the chance that Sky would start the season with a Friday night game so as not to allow BT Sport the first television match of the season.
The Bundesliga starts a week later that the Premier League, so no need to restrict the number of subs used.
Have cheap flights booked for this so hopefully it does go ahead. Agree it would be bad form to scrap it. It is close to a Friday night game, but equally they could have been away to Norwich (or Southampton, Bournemouth) on the Saturday, which would hardly be any better.
If it had been the Wednesday, could just have gone to see the Dead Kennedys instead. Ah well.
Oh no, was talking to a pal yesterday who booked himself, wife & bring his 2 kids to their 1st game coz he could pick up tickets handy with it been a friendly. I reckon a lot of disappointed travellers for this game.
First Santander now this
Yep I see on Twitter John Connors was booked to go so you can add him to the list.
Have you any weddings coming up!?
That's a sickener. I'm sure you'll get sorted on here for a league game after reading all this.
I'll have a card available for a few with the credits on it anyway
Yeah we're all booked up to go. Be a shame to waste cheap flights and accommodation though.
fcuk sake, had flights booked for this
Well thats 3 flights down the swanny
Total mess up that fixture. Must be loads caught out with costs and disappointed families.
Very poor by LFC. I think they should set up a system for this, that if you send them a copy of your flight/boat/train that day and a return the day after, you'll get compensation (a refund) for it. Even if it's 1,000 fans by £200, £200,000 isn't going to cost the club much (players wages are over a million a week), and it would keep the club very positively thought of in the media and amongst fans.
"Football without fans is nothing" and "20s plenty" both have a part to play in this.
It is poor form on their part and seems strange playing a game 2 days after the charity shield anyway in the week before the big opener, only thing to be fair on the clubs part is they did cancel it before tickets went on sale might be the reason the sale date was when it was.
they should have put a note in the ticket selling details that there was a chance the game could be postponed and at least then people could've held off on booking flights/accom etc.
