    Lads,

Apologies if this has been posted before, but booked the Sail / Rail for Saturday morning. Ferry leaving at 730 arriving in L'Pool at 1315. Receipt from the trainline really unclear as to what sailing it is. I'm assuming Irish Ferries as it goes at 0730 but no actually confirmation.

Can anyone confirm exactly how it works?

    Thanks

Look up Irish ferries site to be sure

Thought the slow one was around 8

Swift was nearer nine but I think that's changed and goes out before the slow one now

The swift definitely goes at 0730 - my confusion is the SailRail doesn't state who I'm travelling with. It just says get 0730, Ill double check but must be Irish ferries.

Check with where you made the booking is probably the most sensible way forward here

Thanks lads, that was my intention this morning - just a lack of information in the booking confirmation.

For anyone in the same boat in future, thetrainline reciept is valid for the ferry, however you need to confirm your boat (as they can sell you Irish Ferries or Stena), train tickets are then collected at first train station in the UK.

I'm going one way and it was €44 over - then flying home on Sunday. I booked via Stena (redirected to the trainline) and then it turns out i'm on the Irish Ferries 730 sailing. Great value and now that I've got the bottom of it, all clear

don't think so beano, stena take forever to disembark foot passengers and they often miss the train

My understanding is you are designated a specific train, but should your ferry be late / delayed you are free to get on another one from your same supplier (In my case transport for wales), you do however lose your reserve seats

None of the train staff have a scooby when they see a sail and rail ticket any time I was on one

A quick look and they leave you then

    Rarely even stamp them

lads, just to update on the Sail rail. No hassle - train waited for the ferry at Holyhead as ferry was a bit late, once we got to Chester there was a train every 10 mins.

Highlight of the trip... due to seating on the ferry we had breakfast with two United fans, one of whom explained to me he had only every seen United concede once & despite going every year for god knows how long, he had never seen them drop points

Was the ferry late by much and were you told that the train waited especially as they knew the ferry was going to be late docking?

The ferry was 45 mins late and we have a buffer of 40 mins until the train was due to depart. We got no communication on the ferry, but as soon as we got to Passport checks, they informed us the train was being held for us.

13:18 - exactly as per ticket. Risky for a 1500 game, but no hassle for a 1730 or evening match
