Best of luck Daz. Training alone is tough so if you can get a group or club I'd strongly recommend it. We maybe shod try get a photo of a few Irish Koppers at the next few race series. A shame we missed the 10 k one but maybe the others. Best of luck to everyone. Long roads ahead, but enjoy it. If I can run a marathon where I came from (90kg and unable to run a km without stopping) , then I promise you anyone can.
Well done on yet another pb again today.
Not exactly running related but doing my first sprint triathlon just oustide Tralee tomorrow, the nerves are killing me here already today, haven't raced in anything since I stopped swimming about 16 years ago. Preparation has gone very well for the swimming and cycling but the running after the cylce is an absolute killer for me, worried the calves will lock up on me early on. It's a 5k run so I'm hoping I can get through it at least without having to stop, I've had to stop for a bit on a my practice runs and stretch out a bit but hoping that better preparation on the day with food and hydration will make a difference.
Given up on football and started the retirement running circuit have ya?
done a couple of 10ks in local clubs and a few in course of training. Enjoy it most of the time. I had ambitions of doing a half marathon somewhere, but think id get bored with the run and the training. Never never ever want to do a full marathon. Ten mile run sounds good
The very best of luck. Let us know how it goes. Adrenaline in any race will get you through so don't worry about run.
Thanks mate, it was a great experience. You were right about the run, sailed through it in the end. Was a bundle of nerves at the start and my game plan went out the window on the swim, with a few weeks training I came out of the water 33rd out of 300 and was a wreck. Took my about 5k of the cycke to get my head back right again but settled into it then and got home in an hour 27 with the run at 26 minutes for the 5k, was hoping to get 25 but legs just didn't have any pace in them by the end but still had a bit of stamina left.
In a state of post race euphoria I've registered for another one in two weeks, I've missed the buzz of competing so much.
Anybody doing the Rock N Roll half..? Doing it myself.
ah I'll call a press conference or something after the marathon to announce myself coming out of retirement!!! The aul legs can't do both simultaneously
How is the tranning going @Daz ...?
