Don't think anybody is claiming Kenny is innovating. I reckon most of us aren't even sure if he should still be in the job at the end of this campaign. What's getting people energised and interested again(imo anyway)is the change in attitude. Players aren't being sent out with the message they're not good enough to have a proper go. During the most exciting period in Irish football history we were one of the most direct teams in the game. We're ok with goals from long balls and crosses,we just want a set up we can identify with.
For what its worth I think the constant crossing is still the worst aspect of our game and I think the sport has moved on to a large extent from that constant "get to the by-line and cross the ball" methodology. I'm sure statisticians will confirm it is a low percentage option, definitely worth using of course but not all the bloody time. But attack is always the last thing to improve when you are trying to change the way you play. I don't think anyone is touting Kenny as a genius but I just back the sentiment of trying to play. As someone said above, it is probably the next manager who will properly benefit. What is it about Ireland though that in a game which is all about trying to score a goal, we can't seem to produce anyone that can take a decent shot on goal?
Are you disagreeing with my point, or just giving an example of an exception to the rule? Think it's fair to say most overhauls lead to reduced output until the players get used to the system. The old cliche would be that you start from the back etc.
McClean sums up the crossing for me. His whole game is kick and rush and fire in a cross. He did have one really good ball that was further out last night but over the last two games, he must have hit 10 or more crosses that hit first man. We may need him in the team at the moment as not enough quality however we won’t have moved on until himself and Hendrick are out of the team. Hendrick had our best chance of a goal which was free just outside the box. It was a pathetic attempt. He did Ok in general in the game but I am hoping replacements are going to come from somewhere. Callum Robinson is a player who I think needs to start. He was decent in the Premier League and has something different about him.
No. Not at this stage. I previously thought he would be a suitable choice, but I don't think his style of play suits the current squad an upcoming players
Long read this however a bit mad how he was treated https://amp.theguardian.com/footbal...y-sacking-blackpool?__twitter_impression=true
It was obvious at the time Derby were chancing their arm sacking him and not the two who got criminal convictions. Was never going to stand. Glad he got sorted there financially and has come out the other side personally but I don't buy it never occurred to him that the driver might be over the limit. It's a weird phenomenon that there's still so many footballers who'll get into their car with drink on them. I don't know anybody who does it in this day and age and that's people who aren't rich.
Yeah that's a load of bollox but he probably needed the lie to guarantee the win in the court case, plausible deniability as they say and he obviously can't go back on it now. I think we had both called it straight out the gate that he was ultimately going to get paid here, club hadn't a leg to stand on. Absolute scumbags the boys who ran off and left him, I'm not sure I'd be as quick as him to accept that apology. He was obviously unconscious and they just left him there, that's worse than crashing the car for me.
Just wondering what are people's thoughts on Callum Robinson and other players not being vaccinated and missing games for their club and countries as a result? He says it is a personal choice to be vaccinated, and it is. I don't agree with forcing people to get it (although if you are working with sick people I think it is justifiable to insist on it or they don't get to risk other people's lives). But he has had covid twice already, once pretty badly. He missed the last 3 Irish games because of it. Personally I think it is disappointing and selfish, particularly in a high profile position, but I don't think there is a lot you can do about it only seek to educate people. He has the right not to be vaccinated and I have the right to think he is a selfish twat I guess.
He has freedom of choice, but should face the freedom of consequences of his choice. No way would call him up to a close knit team to travel to these places. Surprised some countries have not stopped non-vaxxed coming in. And yes he's an awful fucking moron. Obvious joke is he's terrified of having more shots in his arm than on target for the country.
Just to play devils advocate, If he's had Covid twice, isn't he considered "immune" for 6 months after each positive test? I mean he can freely travel on his CVP with the "recovered from Covid" designation, so why would he need to be vacinated if he's covered under that?
So how did he get it twice??? I thought if you go t it there was now a period of time when you become immune
They use the word "immune" but that's wrong. You can still get covid whilst being double jabbed too. But after having covid, you've roughly the same amount of antibodies that a double jabbed person would have. So you should in theory have the same level of protection for about 6 months, ie if you catch covid again you aren't at the same level of risk of serious illness or death that you had before your first time catching it or that another non-vaxxed person has. Essentially it comes down to, him not being vaccinated is only putting himself at risk(once his antibodies are gone). Being vaccinated doesn't stop you from catching and/or spreading the virus and more/less than being unvaccinated. The vaccine increases your chances of not becoming seriously ill or dying from the virus.
From what I understand, the vaccine decreases your chance of becoming infected, and if you are infected after being vaccinated, although the viral load you carry is the same as an unvaccinated person, you don't carry that load for as long as an unvaccinated person so it decreases your chances of passing it on. I'm not sure what dangers if any he poses to others now he's had covid twice, but in normal circumstances I'm pretty sure unvaccinated people carry more risk to others. https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/p0607-mrna-reduce-risks.html
He has every right to choose not to get the jab but he's part of a very select group of people that weren't locked in a 5km prison last year. With his personal choice comes consequences, not specifically him because he's a championship player but elite lads at CL level need to face the consequences of not getting jabbed, that being they sit in a travel lodge for 2 weeks like the rest of us if they want to travel to places ordinary Joe soaps can't or more likely stay at home.
