A lad who can't get a game in the championship is not going to turn an average team into world beaters. Wes is a Very good player and has done well for Ireland. He is very tidy on the ball and catches the eye, however you might not see him for 20 minutes in a game and think that gets missed by 'pundits'.

O'Neill coming in for stick for using the increase in season tickets as one of the reasons for an extension. No mention that the price reducing my also have been a factor.

Anyway roll on Monday, not confident however with Bale and a few players fresh, it's up for grabs.

To be fair,Richie Sadlier did mention the price reduction and more disposable income as a bigger factor for more season ticket sales than O'Neill.

It wouldn't suprise me if we win Monday. Its a one off game against a team with mostly average players but at the same time it wouldn't suprise me if we got stuffed.

It’s a really tough one to call. We obviously do not have a fantastic starting 11 at the moment but is sheer guts and determination enough to beat a team that also relies on sheer guts and determination?

    The ‘Guts and Determination’ Derby.

O Neill has got some really good results against Germany, Italy and away in Austria, so in a one off he get players up for it. We saw it at Leicester and Celtic also.

They have a bit more than us quality wise but not enough that an off night for them wouldn't give us a good chance if we played well, but hopefully we find an advantage tactically somewhere and force the game rather on depending on things out of our control to fall our way.

Am I correct in assuming that a win tomorrow night will guarantee a play off place after Scotlands draw tonight.

That's northern Ireland guaranteed a play off spot anyway without having to kick a ball tonight.
Watched the Wales game the other night and thought they were bang average, georgia were by far the better team. Ireland are no great sheikhs either but no reason why they can't get the win tomorrow.

No, I doubt it would make much difference.

Look, at least we have a shot tonight, I am not confident but anything can happen in a one off match.

Wonder what formation Wales will use for the team photo tonight...

In theory any of the three teams could end up top after tonight games, Serbia look odds on to take the final spot (they have already beaten Georgia comfortably away from home) but a draw would leave the door open for Wales to snatch top spot. I don't think we're facing an impossible task tonight in beating Wales but I'd say they're probably favourites because they're at home but if we could start the game well the pressure of being at home might well cause them a bit of grief. I'll be surprised if we're in 2nd by the end of the night but it's not impossible by any means.

It sounds weird but I think us scoring early would be a bad thing,I'd even go as far as to say I'd probably rather go in at half time 0-0 than 1-0 up.Get into the lead and we'll revert to trying to sit on it and most likely give it up,and have fuck all momentum to get the winner we need.Looks even more stupid now Ive typed it but I genuinely think we're awful when we go ahead early in games against anybody half decent.

Good piece on BBC NI website about permutations involving Northern Ireland and how extremely unlikely that they would end up a seeded team in Tuesday's draw thus making it almost impossible for a match against the Republic. Should the Republic be in the play-offs.

Will the Euro qualifying draw for 2020 go by where we finished in this group or the rankings?
