Alright lads don't know if anyone else has a liking for poker have never really seen much posted on here about it. Be cool to maybe get an Irish Kop poker night or just give listings of local games that you might know of. Even if anyone has stories from Vegas and the like that they might want to share etc

Went to Vegas in 2014, played Poker in Mandalay Bay with a few jars on and got cleaned. Haven't played it since.

Is Online Poker still a big thing these days?

Ye I can imagine Vegas is a dangerous place with the free gargle but definitely one for the bucket list!

Online is massive now and of course its very handy and accessible. If i spend say 10 hours in a week playing poker generally 75% will be online but in my opinion you cant beat the proper feel of a game of poker in a casino/ local game and getting live reads off people. 99% of the up and coming professionals now learn there trade online though.

I still play a bit, not as much as I used to but still a decent amount. 4 Kings out in Swords would be my go to these days, Larry runs a great game. He has a very good one coming up I will dig up the info.

Yeah. Used to play Larry's games a good bit. Mainly play cash in town these days when I have time. I bet we've played together by the sounds of things.

Cheers but I'm away for Christmas. Also tournies tend to wreck my head. Can't take the playing solid for hours just to get it in AK vs 55 or whatever and lose. :D

Used to play once or twice a year with a few mates. It was just an excuse to have a lads night on the beer. I enjoyed the game but didn't know anything more than the rules.
A few months back I really got in to it and was fascinated with the amount of tactics and strategy involved and started learning how to play properly.
I never even knew about the importance of position.
Been reading books and playing online since.
Mostly play tourneys as I don't like cash games.
Broke even a few weeks back and have won a few quid since so I'm happy to be making a little profit.
Looking forward to moving up the stakes in the future when I improve my game.

Online is not like pre black friday. It so tough. You have a HUD yet? If you want to take it seriously at all get on to 2 plus 2 forum and get some sort of training site.

Live cash games is where the easy money is though. Practice at home online and build up your confidence that way and then take it to the live game but you have to know the differences.

    Will get a HUD soon.
Didn't want to get one before I fully understood the info it was giving me.
Took me quite a while just to get to grips with all the terminology and acronyms ☺

I'm on a few forums. The amount of free advice and training out there is endless.
It's great to learn something new, put it to practice and see the results improve.

Not many live games where I am unfortunately but will definitely try one next time I'm home.

I'd recommend CORE from RedChip Poker. It's a really good training program especially for new players to the game. You can give their podcasts a listen first if you want free.

A HUD and learning how to use one correctly is an absolute must for online. That's pretty much another reason to play live.

    Heads Up Display

Basically a piece of software or App that tracks stats for you. They go from basics to very advanced stats which gives you an edge long term.
