Peter Crouch will complete a £10million move from Portsmouth to Tottenham tomorrow following a day of high drama at Fratton Park yesterday.

Tottenham finally made their move for the towering England striker on Friday after he turned down moves to both Sunderland and Fulham.

But after rejecting an initial opening offer of £8m from chairman Daniel Levy, Tottenham went back in for Crouch 24 hours later.

They were then given permission to open talks with the player after having a £10m bid accepted. Crouch is set to sign a five-year deal at White Hart Lane worth £70,000 a week.

It brings to an end Harry Redknapp's pursuit of a recognised marksman to bolsters Tottenham's attack and reunites Crouch with Jermain Defoe, who also quit Pompey in January in a £15m deal.

Pompey boss Paul Hart said last night: "Obviously I'm disappointed to see Peter leave, but given the severe financial restraints in place here we had no choice but to accept an offer from Tottenham.

"I think people need to realise that Pompey have been punching way above their weight and could no longer sustain the level of spending that has gone on here over the past three years. And even though a new owner is poised to come in, our dealings in the market will be modest in comparison to the past."

Crouch's departure is unlikely to be the last from Fratton Park this summer.

Hate the thoughts of him going there, would have preferred him to go to Fulham

Im really suprised he is going back to Spurs as when he was younger he was treated like sh*t there..But i think its the Redknapp Connection which is why he is going back.Think he would learn more from Hodgson though, As he is a international coach.

Last season results between the 2 state otherwise...

    At WHL...
    Tottenham Hotspur 0 - 0 Fulham

    At the Cottage...
    Fulham 2 - 1 Tottenham Hotspur

Fulham took 4 points from 6 against them last year...
Fulham also finished 1 place and 2 points above Spurs last season

Fulham would defo be a better option. Peter is addicted to being bought by Harry Redknapp.

He was on Graham Norton show (with Jack Whitehall standing in for Norton) at the weekend to promote his book and Whitehall was taking the piss out of him and was out of order imo. If Norton makes fun of the guests it's usually very light and respectful.
Then David Walliams starts having a go too, saying the audience are laughing at the thought of Crouch trying to read a book never mind writing one and he made jokes about someone else writing it, not Crouchy.
Very disrespectful I thought and not the first time Walliams has come across as a right tosser.
Peter took it all very well and even complimented Walliams about his books near the end of the show.
Maybe I'm overly sensitive because he's an ex-red and well respected by Liverpool fans, but it really annoyed me that he had to put up with that shit, especially as a guest on a show.
Surely the lanky beanpole has had enough abuse over the years?

It's a light hearted chat show ffs
    Definitely being over sensitive imo
Was well able to give it back to Whitehall about his mam at festivals so don't see the issue

I really don't like Jack Whitehall, just can't take to him at all. Otherwise I see nothing much wrong in any of it, Crouchy is always well able to take a bit of "banter".

Whitehall is harmless enough but I always find Walliams really creepy and slimy. He's touted as the new Roald Dahl too which is quite insulting to Roald. Yeah they are children's books but it's like he rattles them off on a dictaphone like a conveyor belt without even proof reading them.

Maybe it annoyed more because he only talked last week about mental health and the issues he had as a teenager because of how he looked and also the abuse he got when he played for England.
I agree about Whitehall and Walliams...I don't like either of them.
Anyway, Graham will be back next week, everything will be back to normal and I won't be so touchy.

Yep - podcast is a good laugh alright. Some interesting insights into the life of a premier league footballer.

Now that he's retired he'll hopefully continue on with at least another season of the podcast.
