He is 28 though and probably better money at Spurs and his chance for a big contract . Great move for him and Spurs. Hopefully Ireland too.
He's a good player and definitely earned a decent payrise after last season. I would see Spurs on the decline, as things currently stand, but I hope things go well for him there.
See they were sniffing around Brewster. Certainly hope if he does go out on loan, he doesnt go there. would be there for when Kane suffers his yearly injury and bench warming otherwise
Putting Brewster out on loan, while keeping Origi has first choice back up, seems the wrong move to me. Keep Brewster, play him in the Cups and give him a bit of PL time, as appropriate, is my view.
Out of all the good players in that Ajax team run in 2019, I thought he was the most average of the midfielder and attacking players.
He had one decent season with Ajax when he was surrounded by quality , last season he was anonymous so wouldnt be jizzing me pants just yet.....
Wonder if a lot of the uber rich owners are chancing their arm and buying big in the hopes that this season (and maybe next too at this rate) will just be written off the books from a FFP stance? When you see the Bitters signing Rodriguez, Allan and bidding 25m for Dacorre, Roman letting Frank sign a whole new team, even Leeds have dropped over 60m, I just hope Klopp isnt looking at this and thinking to himself "we're being overly cautious"
Klopp is probably also thinking that these guys are scrambling to try and bridge the 33 point gap that they had to us last season. I would have liked us to be a bit more aggressive this season, it's always easier strengthening from a position of strength but Klopp has proved previously that he likes to work with a small squad and I think we can all agree that he is doing so very effectively this far. My only concern is if Klopp feels that the club aren't supporting him in the transfer market but I've never heard so much as a murmur from his to suggest this could be the case.
I've seen a lot about the reasons why Liverpool have no money this summer, and they are all valid points. The thing I have hardly seen anything about is to explain why we seem to have no money compared to other clubs though. It's not just Citeh and Chelsea spending money. Covid has affected every club. We made a lot more money than most clubs from TV, between Europe, Club World Cup and Premier League title. We have a big new sponsorship deal. High wages has been pointed out. That seems strange to me when we are lauded for the fact that we now live within our means. Either we are living within our means, in which case we shouldn't be in a worse position than any other club because of wages due to the drop in revenue which every club has lost, or we are not living within our means which throws out the notion that we are so responsible in the first place. Capital investment has been pointed out but I understood the club had not been saddled with debt by this and in any case we got a big increase in revenue from when the main stand's capacity was increased (obviously up until Covid). To be clear I don't doubt any of the issues, they are all real issues. I just don't understand why we seem to be affected so much more than other clubs, particularly after the last two seasons we have had.
I don't think it's a matter of not having funds now just a choice not to spend them with so much uncertainty surrounding where the funds are coming from next year and the year after. They're prudent and Klopp is prudent too so I can't see too many issues between them. Still think we will sign Thiago whether we keep or sell Gini.
The big spenders by far are Chelsea but its worth remembering the transfer ban they had plus player sales most notably Hazard means they had a nice kitty built up. Roman seems eager to catch up with ourselves and City which means just like in the mid noughties he'll fling money at it. City are covid proof but will pretend to play the FFP game as usual. Utd is interesting. They'd have coughed up for Sancho no problem in normal times and if there is any truth in rumours of sniffing Thiago but put iff by wages then possibly they are being little more frugle. Personally think we have the money but being overly cautious. FSG can point to a large wage bill and the new training facility project but that won't stop the twitter warriors who are baying for blood since Werner. It'll be very disappointing if klopp wasn't allowed to freshing the squad up though. He deserves that at the very least.
That Chelsea transfer ban is a bit misleading. The loopholes allowed them to still spend 50m to extend a loan and make one permanent. Had a look at their dealings over the past 3 seasons (with that "ban" in the middle of it) and theyve spent over 480m. Been so busy bitching about City buying everyone and their brother, it was easy to miss that Roman's quietly spent half a BILLION pounds on Chelsea in the time he's been basically barred from the country. Just checked their incoming fees and to be fair theyve gotten 230m in, so its only a 1/4 billion
