Shawshank was over hyped, was waiting for this so called classic to start and it ended up been a waste of time. Muck

Just shows how different we all are..I love the Long of Rings stuff and Shawshank is in my top 5 ever.

I'll throw out any of the Star Trek muck and I wouldn't go out of my way to watch Star Wars stuff either.

So far we've got Star Wars, Star Trek, superhero movies, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter.
We're only missing the Fast and Furious movies which I will gladly throw in as they are brutal, and James Bond movies, which I'm sure some poor soul doesn't like, and that will pretty much cover all the most successful movie franchises of all time.

Was looking at my IMDB ratings (I have rated 500+ movies and tv shows - sad or what).

I like Jonah Hill in a few movies (Superbad, Wolf of Wallstreet, War Dogs) however Cyrus, The Sitter and Get him to the Greek are near the bottom of my list.

Also like Robert De Niro, however recent enough movies Righteous Kill, What Just Happened and Showtime all are near the bottom of my list too. Terrible efforts.

One with Joaquin Pheonix that was a complete waste of time was The Master. It's got 7.1 on IMDB, however I would give -1 if I had a chance.

I actually have a rule that if I am thinking of what watching a movie, I'll check the IMDB Rating. If the average is 6.0 or below I normally don't want it.

You've missed out on a big part of your childhood mate, particularly with regards to the original three films (but it's never too late ;))

For me, the real problem with those movies was the way they were dragged out - 2 x 2 hour films would have been far better, but clearly people were thinking about selling three films rather than two etc. and that took from them big time.

6.5 is usually my cut off and to be fair, I think IMDB ratings are generally a good indicator to use.

How about 2001: A Space Odyssey?

Haha yeah that sums it up. Bond might be watchable but I could take it or leave it

    Castaway

I like Tom Hanks and he generally picks very good roles. Watched this once and nothing happened for 90 minutes is my recollection. Nothing out of the run of the mill finding water and starting a fire stuff anyway

    Groundhog Day.
He has to re-live the same day over and over while I have to re-watch the same unfunny jokes over and over, each time slightly altered....but never improved.

    The Princess Bride.
    A classic apparently.
I remember I did a lengthy shite that must have turned round the u-bend but the tail end was still poppin it's head out of the water.
One long goliath... still all in one piece.
    THAT was a classic.

    Ah The Princess Bride.

Looking for an action movie to watch? The Princess Bride.
What about a comedy or a drama? The Princess Bride.
How about an adventure or horror movie? The Princess Bride.
Looking for a movie that stars a Wrestling great? The Princess Bride.
No?, maybe then you're looking for a fantasy, romance or a thriller? The Princess Bride.
What about any possible combination of those genres or all of them in one? The Princess Bride.

It's only listed as a classic because it's a meme! Oh and Andre the Giant is in it.

It’s funny now that I am more into TVs show, I rarely watch a bad bad movie as I check IMDB beforehand. Anything below 6 is a write off straight away. Between 6 and 7 i’ll Decide based on cast and 7 and above i’ll Generally check out unless it’s horror, supernatural or most comic book nonsense:cool:
