Went to see Le Mans 66 this morning. Really enjoyed it. Bale and Damon. About battle between Ford and Ferrari. If you liked the show Rush a few years ago, you’d like this. One for Cinema
Went to see The Irishman over the weekend. A masterpiece by Scorsese. I read the book years ago and knew it would be a great story, but what he does by introducing a time line over 40 years, historical plot, great script, comedy, poignant reflection, great music and great acting. This will go down as an absolute classic.
It shows the standard of movie-making these days when a 7+ IMDB rated movie is a rarity and only a handful of 8+ movies all year. (not including Marvel movies which often have high scores but are meh, at best) I used to be getting a few movies a week and watching them. Now most weeks I download a 6.8 movie and end up not watching it but stick on an old classic instead. Lo and behold this weekend there's Parasite, The Irishman and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood to choose from. I would watch them in that order but it's the missus' pick so no doubt it will be Brad and Leo first.
Finally got to the see the Joker and also watched the Irishman yesterday . Preferred The Joker as the story was darker. Two good films. But the Irishman maybe a slight bit too long .
Agreed with comments above: Joker 8/10 The Irishman 7.5/10 (marked down, as it's too long and clearly could have been a bit shorter with no impact on the story)
