Been a while since I was at a game. Was wondering do people have a routine they stick to before the game. Do they go to same place for food before hand? What pub do they go to? Or do you just go straight to game. What's your routine on match days

Kind of... depends on travel arrangements and kick off time.

If its a morning KO id usually head to the weatherpersons near St Johns for breakfast and an early pint or two. Then grab a taxi to the Solly and have a few there.

If its a late KO and if i arrive early i usually go the dock for a walk around, then have a few pints in town usually O Neils at the bottom of Hanover street and go from there. Sometimes i go to the Park but mostly the Solly.

It's changed somewhat in the last few seasons.

I used to religiosity go to Linda's for a bit to eat before the game and head into the ground an hour or so before kick off and grab a drink in there and read the programme.

Recently I've started to frequent shooters bar before a game but that's usually for evening games & then if I was staying over it'd be back to the hotel for a shower and a pint or 2 and maybe something to eat and up to the ground.

Haven't been in a few years now (kids arrived and sucked up all my disposable income!) but a gang of us used to go once a year - head over the evening before, night on the town, get up, decent breakfast, walk down around the docks to clear the head and one or two pints in town before heading out to the game. Often end up after in the ever so classy McHales Irish American Bar to catch MOTD. Dance with a 65 year old cougar if you are reallllllly lucky.

Yeah I do pretty much the same. No regular places to go. Find brekkie someplace usually weatherspoons near Matthew st. Usual pubs. Flanagans , Grapes, Cavern club. Aldos I go from Sat to Mon so time of game doesnt really matter. Bus to ground. Last time walked back to City. Didn't even know the way. Usually on my own so when game over all i want to do is get back home to Ireland. Can be hard to fill an evening to kill time

Any other ideas on good spots to go lads? Myself and 3 lads going over for Sunderland game.. Get in early Saturday, home late Sunday.. Two days of drinking is likely the plan but would be good to know where to go etc! So far i'm taking tips from listening to the Anfield Wrap lads ...

    thoughts?

Shiraz cafe in Williamson Square for a cheap full English breakfast. Couple of cheap pints in The Blob(by Wetherspoons, Lime Street), followed by a few more pints in the newly located Yankee or Irish American Bar as its known to some.

Taxi to by the ground. Couple of pints in the Halfway House on Walton Road and then a couple more in the Solly.

Everyone's pub choices are different but personally much rather paying £1.90 a pint so I tend to go to these type of places.
