Leicester have 18 points and 4 wins out of 32 games, they scored 27 goals and conceded 72. They have a GD of - 45 to our + 43. We have more than 4 times their points total, nearly 6 times their wins. They are not relegated yet, but if West Ham win at Southampton on Saturday they'll be relegated by the time we play them - realistically West Ham only need a point given the current gap in goal difference is 27 in West Ham's favour. Regardless, they'll be out to show something to their fans and will be looking to spoil the party. The only thing that could cost us would be going into the game with the wrong attitude. Let Salah run at them and they won't be able to cope. Hope the lads will take us a max of 3 points from the title (if Ipswich haven't done us a massive favour before kick off).
Possibly champions today but unlikely, if Trent isn't gonna commit to contract I would have on bench at best. Can't be arsed with non committed players in our celebrations. I'd like Jones to start and tsimikas, hopefully Diaz will play like the west Ham game.
Wouldn't think he'd come straight back into the team regardless. I'd start Robertson every game left this season. He deserves it after his top level years of service.
There's more than a few tramps supporting Leicester City who liked to make themselves very vocal in games against us in recent years that I'm only too happy to see relegated. Good riddance. One more to go.
Didn't get to see the game but glad to see Trent back with a goal. Hopefully gets to savour his last few games with his boyhood club.
Game stats show one way traffic which it was for lots of the game. Had a feeling of Leicester doing us in an 8 minute spell where they were on top and hit the post. Subs made the difference particularly Elliot, then Trent scoring and showing the emotion that suggests all the bike against him from fans lately is hurting.
Local lad and vice captain, the interview after game totally ignoring question. Least with vvd, Salah they wanted to stay from start. League is done now.. if owned up saying going or staying fans would respect it more. Otherwise will go down line if macca or Owen. Ball in his court
He's committed till his contract finishes which is all we can ask or expect of him. If he wants away in the summer, personally I think it's best he doesn't announce it when we are about to win the title. There's always an outside chance he was playing hardball, waiting to see what contracts Salah and Virg got, and he is open to staying as long as he gets an exceptional deal.
I'll say it again. He signed a contract and he's honoured that contract. The idea that he shouldn't play because he probably won't sign another one, is silly. Klopp would have continued to play him and I'm sure we're all glad now that Slot thinks the same way.
Win the league, enjoy that, spilt the difference between Sunday and trophy lift and announce it then.
Not sure why people have such issues with any of these lads. Owen wasn't getting offered a contract that suited compared to Real and we were offloading a player we knew was injured, thereby losing his greatest weapon in his pace with the ball. Macca was in a team not achieving much and again not getting a great contract offer in his opinion compared to what Real brought to the table. TAA has given his all for the club he knows and loves but again is probably not getting the offer to stay on he feels he deserves or is worth. While I understand why many of us can't understand how anyone would turn down getting to play and become a hero at his hometown club that he has supported since wearing nappies but he probably feels he is the best player in the world and he can get the accolades and rewards for that at Real that he can't at Liverpool, UEFA and FIFA corruption have ensured that over so many decades. He has honoured his contract and saved the club buckets of money while playing for them as we haven't had to pay ridiculous money we would have had to, to get a player of his calibre into the team. If he goes I will feel thankful for his time at Liverpool but once he is gone I couldn't care less how he gets on, especially playing for a club I can't stand like Real. If like yesterday playing him gets us the win we need to win the PL then play him, why weaken your team or options to be petty towards a player that has done nothing wrong. To me that makes the club stupid. If/when he moves on then hopefully we beat the team he joins to ruin their chances in a competition that is the real way to show him he made a mistake.
It's a bit like when people put a lot of stock in a player loving the club. Is it nice when a player loves the club? Of course, but give me a choice between one who loves the club,or a player who couldn't give a shit about the club but delivers more for the team,I'm taking the latter every time. In situations like that, you take away the emotion and employ pragmatism. Same with Trent. The manager should do what's best for the team. Maybe that might be playing Bradley, but spite shouldn't come into it.
The better decision now for the team assuming Trent is gone is for Bradley to be accruing game time as a starter (assuming there isn't another plan for RB). basically my point is we're in the dark and Slot et al know better than we do. Id stay with Bradley unless he's unfit, the league is won so let's focus on next year for ourselves as Trent is for himself.
There's an argument for that alright, but there's also an argument for winning as many football matches as possible between now and the end of the season. Trent increases the chances of the latter imo, and that's the one I'd be choosing, but I'm happy to go along with whatever Slot decides is in the clubs best interests.
