Regarding the chance(s) he missed on Saturday, Yes he hit it right at the keeper first time anywhere else he would have scored, but lets not forget, he did brilliantly to get into that position. Its easier to work on the finishing than getting into the position in the first place. He will learn and move on from it.
I must be in the minority but i think he has been good for us, gets into good positions, very good in posession, good crosser of the ball, scored after only 3 games, if you ask any good centre mid they always start out wide, Gerrard started out wide, Roy Keane started out wide, Ronnie Whelan Started out Wide etc etc, the kid is learning his trade, if he makes the odd mistake just accept it
He panicked, the kid panicked 'cos he was desperate to score. He'll learn. I think he has been good too. He seldom gives the ball away.
I think he has been decent, without being dazzling very good crosser/passer of the ball. Agree with others paniked a little with his chance the weekend. His workrate is brilliant just hope he gets his confidence up.
That's not acceptable at Liverpool, you make a mistake you should be sold r have your contract ripped up, simple as that, no arguments. So we can't "just" accept it
Im not going to bash him for his miss. How often do players, even top strikers smash the ball directly at the keeper? Id say almost as many as are struck passed them especially if its a smashed shot and not placed. The distance he was out that goal would have looked very small.
I saw this thread as the most recent one posted in and thought to myself, oh no here we go again, after every loss, there has to be a scapegoat. However after reading the last 2 or 3 pages of the thread it is good to see that nobody is criticising the lad unfairly yet and most people can see he is trying his best for the cause. He has played every game under Kenny so it is clear the King has high hopes for him and that is good enough for me. I'd like to see him play with a bit more confidence at times and look to pass forward or try and beat a man rather than recycling possession backwards instead of taking a risk. I think this will come with time though, nice to see our fans having patience with the lad.
agree there...however he has been very ordinary for me since he came...maybe it's because he's out of position etc. but whenever he receives the ball, 99% of the time he doesn't contemplate taking anyone on, he just passes it backways again, which frustrates the b*lls off me....
He's never really going to take people on though. That isn't his game; it's all about ball circulation and movement. On Saturday he wasn't really poor (just very average) but the miss brings him to the fore. Doesn't seem to eb as much attention for Suarez misisng an easier chance or Suarez missing a one-on-one afgainst Bolton. He showed against Bolton what he is capable of; good movement and delivery. He will show more throughout the season and be a very useful member of the squad for years to come.
Again Id cut him some slack, he's 21 coming from a club with no expectations or pressure if we are being honest, and thrust into the first team of one of the biggest clubs in the world and because of his transfer cost (not his fault) instantly put under the spotlight. Lets use how most if us, me included, treated Lucas as an example of how we dont know everything and can get it wrong with young players. Adam, Downing, Enrique are the finished articles and old pros compared to Henderson and he should be given plenty of time. I get what your saying about backpassing but again would you prefer him to be losing possession all the time ala Lucas at the beginning or at least retaining possession which will help him build confidence.
it might be time to give him a rest he is a very good player and will need time plus he is being played out of position id rest him for spurs and put him in at brighton
It all depends on Stevie's fitness I think glen, if Stevie's not ready then I thing Henderson will start against Spurs.
Could be wrong, but i dont think he should start against everton next week,he hasnt shown a whole lot so far,but his confidence must be at a low point, still he is young, and will improve in time.Someone will be making way for Gerrard next week, wonder will it be him?
ah go on, they'll never ban ya...you'll get at least warning first. I'll tell ya i think he's beem very average so far...i cannot for the life of me see what he brings to teh team at all. and, hand on heart, i genuinely didnt even know he was playing yesterday until he got subbed...and thats the truth. Age is a bull**it excuse, he's old enough. some players like wilshere are younger or same age and performing at a vastly higher level...when fit obviously. He doesnt tackle, not a great passer, noit a great finisher and consistent crosser...has no real pace either. what exactly does he bring to teh table...i'd have maxi (excellent touch and takes up lovely positions, and doesnt look uncomfortable playing high tempo one touch fotball) and even kuyt in the team before him. seriously, for me, he's the most confusing signing of the lot. cannot start agaisnt everton, we cant be (effectively) playing with 10 men in that game
