Seems to come back in decent form, just ran outa steam obviously after injuies. Hopefully he maintains this form.
I think we really missed him since he's been out. Once he came off yesterday, the coverage and help for the defence seemed to disappear with him.
Must have been bad Lionel for you to post this. We have a rotten element in the fan base now sadly. I heard the manager being called all sorts at Watford away in his first season so nothing shocks me now.
It was very bad, abuse and getting the fingers when he was being subbed off. A player recovering from a month on the sidelines. I could not believe the venom.
I commented on this after the Arsenal match in August (which we won 4-0!!). Some of the abuse and language that our players got (Karius in particular that day) was appalling. I am not, by any stretch, an oversensitive snowflake waiting to be offended but if that happened in United Park at a LoI match (and we have something to complain about!!), the protagonists would be called out be fellow supporters. Different context and circumstances I know but I was shocked at what I heard. Very personal stuff and way beyond "constructive criticism".
People often tell me that there's no hatred towards players when I mention it on the Moreno thread and I'm always told that it's just criticism of them being a poor footballer but it goes so much further with some people. I just don't get the irrational hatred, football is at the of the day just a game and it's probably more reflective of the person's own personal issues that ends up with them losing the plot at a player who plays for the team that they "support", it's actually quite a crazy situation when you think about it.
I really don't understand the abuse he gets. Is it just confirmation bias from those who have to be right?
His performance had by that stage tapered off. Are you suggesting that he should not have even been started? Started two games withing a week after a month out. Thought he brought lots of energy to the team. he will cope much better in his next game for the 65 minutes he got yesterday.
I posted at the time also but the abuse he got from people around me in the home league game against Everton in December was disgusting.
Thought we were better with him in the side , if he had been up to playing the 90 , think we would have won . Even fading he was a loss
Your original post did not give that impression to me. It sounded like a sarcastic remark. Perhaps some punctuation in your post and I might have read it different.
Touch paranoid Lionel? When I read it first I never thought for a second he was being sarcastic, reading it again I still can't see were you're getting that from.
Bobby, you could be right. Maybe I am slowly (or not so slowly) metamorphosing into this wonderful character played by Peter Finch in the film 'Network' from 1976. Would you recommend treatment for me? Cause, I am as mad as hell.
Looking like his old self , since Bournemouth game he seems to be playing consistently good. Wondering is he over his heal injury finally
