Maybe I'm being over optimistic, and not that there wasn't a back spasm issue, but I think he was taken off at half time to make sure he'd be alright for Wednesday.
David Maddock done a piece this morning about it saying "he is running out of time to prove his fitness ahead of sundays game. He is back running and working with the ball but is yet to train with the first team. With games coming thick and fast playing every three days Klopp may decide not to risk him" That's it shortened down not looking good for sunday
Dropping 3 points this weekend and having Matip avaialble long term is a better outcome than winning at the weekend and losing him for a significant time because of an injury.
Don't disagree if he's not fully fit which it sounds like he's not. Fingers crossed Phillips can come in and do a job on Sunday again.
I don't agree because he doesn't do long term. If we don't buy a defender then we need him for 6 or 7 specific games, the rest we could get by in. Losing on Sunday isn't an option with the run City are on, they could pull 5 clear by winning their games in hand. I'd rather be 10.behind Utd than 5 behind City.
Jaysis Phillips is a bit shite and Williams is not built for it yet. Could really do with Matip making it for Sunday.
Maybe we should stick Origi in, he's big enough... Although knowing our luck, he'd start putting the ball in the back of the net (our net )
Would not be confindent with Philips at all. Could get carved open. Ok option against teams that want to hoof it and have a slow attack. If he was Premier League quality, teams would have come in for him a long time ago. Great for him to get some action and good luck to him however I’ll be worried if I see him lining up. Williams has more pace but is very inexperienced, esp on when to hold the line and step up. If Matip is 80% I’d play him.
