Looks interesting. Just finishing the Sunderland doc which is quite shocking
Heard good things about this must check it out
Check out Dirty John. Very good watch. Also a documentary on Netflix about it. Watch the series first and then the doc. Mad stuff
Good shout. Just downloaded this after finishing Ray Donovan
I just finished watching a show I think most people probably haven't heard of, it was called Stranger Things, it's good craic.
Abducted in plain sight is wild for all you true crime watchers out there.
It's the most mind blowing thing I've watched, you just want to scream at the idiotic parents throughout the whole thing!
I know it's not Netflix, but that Michael Jackson documentary was a tough watch and again you're wondering what the parents were at. Not a doubt in my mind he was a nonce.
It was pretty sickening alright. Only half way through but I am wondering whether we will see either or both of the mothers open up about feeling guilt and blame for allowing their sons to be in that position. The frank descriptions of abuse of 7 and 10 year old boys was really disturbing, don't think I ever remember hearing that kind of evidence in a show on main stream tv. One of the two guys seemed like he was still incredibly confused about the whole thing. The aussie guy seemed to be coping better. Just made me really angry, the abuse of the trust and innocence of small children.
There definitely seemed to be difference in how both victims feel about it now and the descriptions of how they felt about it at the time.
Yeah, Safechuck really seemed to believe at the time that they were "in love" and effectively a couple, whereas Wade seems to be able to see it more clearly for what it was, that Jackson used his awe of him to abuse him.
Just started watching this. Enjoyable
Anyone else watched After Life with Ricky Gervais? I threw on the first one last night and watched four of them. It's only 25 -30 mins per episode and there are only 6 episodes. I was between two minds about watching it because he can grate but it's very good. About a guy who has lost his wife and is feeling suicidal and just says what he wants to people. Quite dark and can be a bit preachy but there are real issues dealt with in amongst a few laugh out loud moments every episode. The supporting cast is excellent. Good to see some mental health issues addressed in there too.
Thought it was excellent. He achieved what he was trying to with Derek, where he failed miserably.
Also watching Afterlife with Ricky Gervais
Dark comedy drama, but enjoyable too
It definitely wouldn't be for everyone, so maybe best to read the synopsis before watching
Yeah, tbh I watched 5 minutes of Derek and just couldn't believe he was doing that. I was thinking "is this guy for real?" He doesn't have the chops to pull that off.
The writing was woeful too. His desperation to make viewers sad was so clumsy. After Life wanted to pull at the heart strings too but it was far more subtle and fit perfectly with the story.
It had some funny bits but none of them involved Derek himself. Looking forward to watching Afterlife
Finished it last night. Definitely worth watching. The sentimentality and preachy elements are still laid on a bit thick in places but some bits really hit the mark too. Loved the last scene with his dad.
