His ability to take the ball in tight spaces and wriggle out is unreal. Midfield has become a battle for one place, as when Gini and Fab are available, they play.
He looks a different player to the one who turned up every second game a few seasons back. Great to see him turn it around, had wondered if Fabinho and Keita might have signalled the end for him but Keitas not made a dent really since he arrived. Happy to have this guy playing as many games as possible these days.
Hopefully nothing too serious! We're losing quite a few bodies at the moment, probably just the accumulation of minutes catching up a bit.
Klopp said: It's a muscle problem. I don't know. He could probably fly to Qatar, my problem is I don't know what injury it is. "You never want a muscle injury for a player but at this moment it's more difficult. All teams have the same problems. "Tomorrow we will know more."
Great to have him back. Really played well tonight. Broke up a lot of their attacks and got us on the front foot,
What's people's thoughts on his contact situation? Does it come to him wanting a longer deal and the club a bit weary of giving him one? Be a real shame to lose him either on a free next season or for a fee this summer.
I think with Klopp the usual shenanigans involved in football are removed. You could have an honest chat and he will give you an honest answer. My gut feeling is he would like to see out his contract and try something different after that and Klopp is happy enough with that.l
He is 30 in November so you would think this will be his last big contract, i am sure he is weighing up a big pay day for it also the possibility of extending his first team time at another club. He would go down a storm for a few years yet in Serie A or even La Liga with the pace of the game in those leagues.
I think he's only on £75k pw, so no doubt he'd be hoping to do better on his next contract, could be part of the problem. I would imagine that it's a particularly difficult time to be trying to get more more out of the club, given the club has publically aired it's concerns about income etc. Then there's the question about what role be might play for us next year and thereafter, will he be any more than a squad player, or even first man off the bench ? Is it possible that we are going to bring someone in who will push Gini further down the pecking order, so that in turn goes against paying him more, or even keeping him? I've a feeling that we're open to offers for him, and while not trying to push him out the door, we're also not prepared to offer him much in terms of an extended contract - maybe only 2-3 years, on modest pay etc.
