That can only be the start of things there, they've a load of players way below the market rate and if they want to keep the squad happy they're going to have to start ponying over the cash very soon.

They would need to win a lot of silverware to trigger all the bonuses. I am sure he is on substantial money per week and has got a nice increase but the headline figure is always the eye catching one.

Six year Contract and all. That is a statement right before the World Cup. He scores a rip of goals in Russia and his price tag could be 200 million.

I'd say your spot on mate, it's more likely part of a strategy to get the highest price for him when the offers come in.

It's an interesting one Ed, because they seem to have managed their teams quite well over the years, despite the apparent low pay many players were / are on.

I see it as an achilles heel for them, and one of the reasons that they are vulnerable to losing quality players to other clubs. That said, they haven't lost anything like the number of players that I'd have expected they would lose over the last few years for example.

Registered with 'The Times' just to read this article. Some good stories told. Big Jack looks so well even if the memory is fading.

Sky have taken Serie A from BT Sports. They have the rights for the next three seasons. No mention of La Liga.

Egg on face time for me. It is just domestic rights in Italy that Sky have obtained for Serie A.

Did the Egyptian abd other Arab teams end up ignoring Ramadan in the end? Three Muslim teams are gone already with only a point and a goal between them in the two games they've played and I was just wondering if it might have impacted on them at all.

AC Milan banned from European competition for the next 2 seasons over FFP breaches. Club is in an awful mess.

AC Milan just after being taken over by a hedge fund as their Chinese owner defaulted on his loan and Elliott (owned by Paul Singer) have the rights to most of the shares in the company.

Just noticing that Eleven Sports have acquired the Serie A broadcasting rights for the next 3 seasons from BT. It appears that the games are going to be available online but they may sell some games to other broadcasters.
Back to watching 1 game a week if we're lucky.

Had seen it rumoured yesterday but had not seen confirmation. Looks like this confirms it, crazy the way that sports rights are now so broken up with another new player coming on board.

Sarri English is quiet bad. Hopefully he doesn't bed in too well.
    Anybody rate him?
