LOI clubs pay their players openly,so obviously there's going to be a merry go round. And we're literally discussing how hard it is for a player to change GAA clubs and we're witnessing the shaming of somebody trying to move,so of course there's going to be more "loyalty" and the threat of that means you meet the dedication standards set or there's a big chance you're done playing completely. It's because there's less coercion in football, not that lads who play football care less.
Colleges in the US have had their entire programmes suspended, are we supposed to believe a GAA club are too clever to get caught while sports programmes with the resources of multinational companies arent? . It often starts with a disgruntled whistle-blower to blow the lid of the whole thing. If this thread is anything to go by,one thing that there won't be a shortage of is disgruntled club players. The will and the resources could make a huge dent in the practice very quickly. Let the revenue office loose on these clubs and see what happens. The will isn't there though.
My understanding is it doesn't happen lower down the chain in GAA either. If you move to the Big Smoke and you're a bog standard junior B player no one cares who you play for and you sign a form for the season same as junior soccer players
I'd often come across what I'm assuming is the lower standard club teams when I'm out watching a football match, and no offence to those lads, but a lot of them don't look like the picture of dedication.
There's levels to the game Mick, if you can get to a Senior 1 or 2 championship hurling game you wouldnt think that in fairness. Same as anything really. Saturday premier may not be as pretty as Bluebell v Crumlin. There is no threat though regarding leaving clubs, if a player wants a transfer he applies to the county board gives his reasons and it goes through. You will find contention with a fraction of transfers and where you do there is usually something amiss. Which brings us back to timing. What turned his head at the 11th hour...... I'd happily be a whistleblower if I could bring proof forward as it's something I'm passionate about. I'm the treasurer in my local club and I can assure you there are no sweeteners for any of our players unless they like canderel in there tea. It goes on. Like in the LSL.
only heard about this this morning, that was kept very low key. https://www.rte.ie/sport/football/2...walshs-transfer-to-kilmacud-crokes-confirmed/
Huge news! Met Colm O'Rourke today down in Avoca in Dunboyne, he was on grandad duty and a nicer fella you could not meet. Couldn't believe the height of him either, 6"2 easy. Terribly nice fella.
as the light declines, I remember Brian Mullins in the rare oul times. him and heffo will have a pint tonight I'd say. RIP
I texted my youngfella last night to tell him Brian Mullins had died, I was expecting him to say who the fxck is Brian Mullins but he said "fxcking hell." as hard as they come, when people like him go you realise how delicate life is.
Didn’t see this coming. I reckon GAA still have RTÉ and boarded their own streaming premium service GAA Go
