Personally think we just going to have sit tight and have faith in Klopp getting the right players in. Also convinced the club are backing him but both Klopp and FSG still trying to be as sensible as possible with the transfer funds .
The main problems I have with the “wait till the summer philosophy” is we lose traction during the Second half of the season and our best players are targeted in the summer. we never really get any momentum going! Madrid already circling for salah, we need to be challenging on all fronts to keep hold of our best players
And still fourth in the table Last and this year (so far anyway) over achieving in terms of financial layout anyway
Our front three are going to be burned out , not bringing in backup or more player or players off hopefully same quality is going to catch up on us if it hasn’t already . Fair enough Coutinho wanted out but it’s complacent to leave us short .
A big club Dosent let Key players go without having something lined up! Couthino should have been sent to the reserves like Suarez was! World Cup year, the sulk wouldn’t last Long! Same thing last summer but he knuckled down afterwards and played some great football!
I think we are marginally above break even, for players in and out this season .. no doubt the owners are happy !
Its plain and simple in black and white. Our rivals are spending record amounts of money and we are making a profit on players in and out. Still think we will get top four but the owners need to look at spending big money on players and if the manger sells a player he should be getting that money to spend. If the money is there then Klopp needs to take more risks and buy his 5th, 6th 7th choices and so on if he cant get his preferred targets.
I think it's obvious that the owners are more than willing to spend big on players but the manager doesn't seem to be willing to commit to anyone other than his primary targets so it really all falls on Klopps shoulders. If he thinks that he can craft this current squad into a top 4 or title challenging team then FSG don't have the football knowledge to challenge him, they're trusting him entirely on the footballing side of things and frankly I don't think it's the owners position to interject and tell Klopp that he needs to be spending money.
I dont think its their position either. I wouldn't be as sure as you regarding them willing to spend big. I do think it was knowing that Phil was going before VVD was bought. We clearly wouldn't pay the same amount last summer as we did in Jan and this was sanctioned on the back of Phil going. We have a strong starting 11 but if our big players have an off day we have nothing from the bench. Our squad is looking very weak at present. I Love Klopp but his instance on not spending money if its there is baffling, especially when we are so weak in some positions (keeper, Full backs, centre mid) It borders on arrogance thinking we can sell our best player and not try to replace him immediately.
Agree , think it’s more Klopp been over cautious on who he brings in than FSG saying there’s no funds available. FSG maybe saying we won’t over pay or more pay way over what we think the player is worth and that’s the right philosophy. They showed with Van they will pay a premium even if it’s partly because we messed up in the first place , they paid extra for Keita but imo we’re right not to pay the extra to bring him here now. Just going to have to trust Klopp will get there soon enough , still believe the squad isn’t his yet. My own grief is not having 2 players at least lined up before we sold Coutinho. But that’s done now. A keeper and a playmaker wound have been a huge plus .
Absolutely we are, we just sold one of our best players! It’d klopps call, he’s responsible and we just have to let it play out and see if ultimately he becomes a legend or sacked! I’m as frustrated with it all as you are but singling out fsg and not apportioning any blame to klopp is unfair IMO
There might be a touch of truth about it to be honest, there was another poster who believed Klopp knew that Moreno was the worst full back in the PL but stuck with him out of pure stubbornness. Though in truth that was in largely to pull back on his initial assertion that anyone that didn't' realise how bad Moreno was didn't know a thing about football and that was harsh on the multiple Bundesliga winning coach. It's hard to get a real handle on it to be honest, I trust Klopp entirely but his ability to not panic and react how fans want him to will continue to put him at odds with a large majority of the fanbase. For me he deserves the time to work and the faith of the fans to decide how he is going to deal with things like losing Coutinho mid season and who he selects at full back, keeper or centre half.
All fair points but he didn’t “lose” couthino he sold him without having a replacement lined up! I’d say he loves a game of holdem
I've just been told we have been actually ok under the FSG ownership cause we have reached 4 finals and challenged for a title. I was asked how many other clubs have reached 3 domestic finals, a European final and challenged for the league during their time as owners.
