Both Man U games last season were 12:30
I suppose there was a reason for that, they had to be early KO's. This season at 4.00 v Man Utd was the latest we've had in 20 years I think.
Yes, but both had to be because of the Champions League last season. The 1st match (just like the first Spurs match this season) was picked before Sky knew the group fixtures and dates for the English teams. The second game was because United were playing on the Tuesday night following in the Champoions League last 16.
However I'd not rule out any Sky slot time for this match except for the Monday night. I think Sky may have to plan that they might need to pick Spurs for the midweek after the league game if Spurs get to the League Cup Final at the end of February. If I am right the probability of City having to take one of the midweek slots might dictate which days games have to be fixed for on the weekend before.
To date Liverpool have been picked three times by Sky on Saturday's at 12:30 and Spurs four times although that 4th pick will not take place if Spurs need to play in the League Cup final at the end of February.
I would completely rule out BT getting to screen this match. BT have done far better this season in getting 'big 6' head to heads than last season but based on previous experience, Sky always get the matches that matter in the latter parts of the football season.
Incidently the dates for the 2nd legs of the league cup semi-final ties have not been picked yet until after the 4th round draw of the FA Cup is done because of complications around matches already selected for television.
A great post Lionel, as always.
If Spurs get to the league cup final, would they have reached capacity at 12.30 on Saturday's?
Also, why could it not be on the Monday night?
Wealth of info mate!
Five is the maximum games per team in that package at 12:30 on a Saturday at Sky.
Some of my thinking in my post above is incorrect, I thought that the March announcement would be before the teams that would have to play in the League Cup Final would be known.
So apologies, I think that the only way now that Monday can be ruled out for this match is if Spurs have to play a rearranged midweek fixture for getting to the League Cup Final in the midweek after we play them in the league.
Did we not play them on a Monday night a couple of seasons ago ?
Correct, I had read that we hadn't played them later than lunch time in 20 odd years when the TV was announced. You have a good memory to be able to point that out!
Both Swansea games during the season before were 12:30 kicks off when Champions League wouldn't have been a factor.
So BT Sports have only one LFC home fixture left to pick for remainder of the season? But could pick other teams playing at home to LFC?
I reckon BT will chose the Chelsea game at home in April & pick us up for an away fixture in March, subject to Champions League & Europa League outcomes.
The last few posts have been excellent if your are studying "Actuary"
Only one LFC game left, either at home or away. Away on BT would also hit the maximum of 8 that they can show us in the PL.
I am in no disbute at all that reverse fixtures can be in exactly same timeslot and with the same broadcaster. That season the first game against Swansea was on Sky with the reverse fixture on BT Sport.
I'd bet my house on that game being on Sky.
With a Championship game picked for the Monday night of the Derby. I think that slot can be ruled out for the Everton v Liverpool match.
Learned something new today the 'Steel Derby' is the costliest game in the UK to police.
Jesus, even ahead of Celtic/Rangers?
Have flights booked for the Sat & Sun mornings. Hope it doesn't move to the Monday night.
My mistake saw UK mentioned on Twitter and never checked. It is England's most expensive match to police.
Beat Bayern and then you can have no worries.
I think the result tonight means the Fulham games goes ahead now Paddy’s weekend.
