The Mrs has my head wrecked thinking up new things to do with the kids already and the summer is only started. So looking for good ideas for days out with them all, of course I am going to pass any good ideas off as my own.
Don't know if you've ever done it before but the tour of Aras an uachtarain is very good and it's free, you'd need to be up there early that morning to guarantee tickets though. The time we did it I went up early that morning on my own and got the tickets and headed back home and then we all went back up later for the tour. http://www.president.ie/en/explore-visit/tours-visits
I'm in the same boat, missus thinks every day off should be an adventure. Great idea for a thread, always struggling to come up with ideas. Last week we walked up to tree rock mountain, enjoyable no matter the age. Week before that was kilruddery house in bray, nice spot, airfield farm in Dundrum is similar again.
My posts should probably go in the thread for great un-family things to do. Three summers ago I got out to the Skellig Islands, this is a world class bucket list place to visit in life, I am talking Machu Pichu, Grand Canyon etc. but not suitable for kids in the slightest. This summer my ambition has been to do 'The Gobbins' coastal path near Larne. The path only re-opened in May after severe storm damage last winter and has closed again because of more damage to the trail. Should we get a fine forecast for a Sunday and the trail is open I will do it. http://www.discovernorthernireland.com/The-Gobbins-Islandmagee-Larne-P48901
I found this place in Wicklow, a open farm type with a Maze. Anybody ever been...? http://www.greenanmaze.com/
Hi, As you know, I don't have kids but stumbled across this, so said I'd post it: http://www.rte.ie/lifestyle/living/2016/0712/801983-entertaining-kids-on-a-budget/ Also, I hear some of the following are quite good: - Tayto Park - Carlingford Adventure Centre / Sky Park - Sea Safari - Viking Splash Tours (okay, I admit I've done this one myself ) - Loughcrew Adventure Centre Then there's always the old reliables like: - Dublin Zoo - Go-Karting - Trip to Ireland's Eye / Dalkey Island - Fort Lucan - Funtasia - Clara Lara - Cinema - Fishing (trout farm type thing, to ensure everyone catches a fish) I'd be looking at trying to get them into a few clubs, things like sailing clubs, bike clubs, youth clubs, scouts etc. All kill time, lots of ourdoor stuff so tires them out Guess you could also ship them off to the Gaeltacht to practice their Irish for a couple of weeks
This place is near enough to us if the kids would be into the whole zip lining type thing http://www.xtreme.ie/activity-centres/adventure-centre-courtlough Pudden Hill is decent too http://www.puddenhill.com/
Took the kids to the transport museum out in Howth at the weekend, was decent probably has not changed much from when I was a kid but my gang loved it.
A spin on the train, family leapcards only €10(2adults,4kids) Plenty of beaches up north dublin, not too crowded either. Tour of croker is great,do the skyline walk.
Kildare maze is good. The maze will do your head in. Love powerscourt waterfall. Sea life at bray is ok.
Air show in bray this weekend https://lovindublin.com/feature/her...-heading-to-the-bray-air-display-this-weekend
I'm off the week after next so I'm looking a few things to do with the kids now, the maze looks deadly I might get a shot of it myself!!
Tayto Park is a decent spot. €15 for adults and kids. Under 3's are free. Loads of free stuff and unlimited pass on almost rides for €15. Could work out an expensive day but a good one. Family membership for admission only is €155 for the year.
The maze is great crack but at the same time head wrecking. The crazy golf is good. Tip...get there early and do the golf 1st, as the day goes on the crazy golf gets really busy and you've to wait around alot.
