The picture of him,his wife and the kids at the altar on his wedding day,had such an impact on everybody,I think because apart from highlighting how much he had to live for and what his poor wife and kids have lost,it was a reminder of how quickly you can be taken away from the people you love,or the people you love can be taken away from you. We ignore examples that should teach us that lesson, every day of the week, but when its somebody we've formed an emotional bond to through football, it really hits home. I'm determined to remember that lesson. Another thing that stands out for me in the reaction to this tragedy,is the impression he made on everybody as a person. The respect is across the board. No matter what a person achieves in their professional life, the best thing that can be said about you when your time comes, is that you were a good person, and he cleared that bar by a mile. His brother also being taken adds an extra layer of devastation. Every parents biggest fear is the loss of a child, and these lads poor parents have suffered it twice. I hope all of his family and friends will find some comfort in the reaction to this tragedy.
I think they will in time Mick, it costs nothing to be a nice person yet it brings back it's rewards in multiple folds and from all accounts he ticked the box for certain, your post is perfect, we should all take stock because the things were think are worth worrying about don't matter a damn, enjoy your life and never take a moment for granted.
I don't know how to post photos from my phone but Oasis tribute to Diogo in Cardiff during Live Forever was wonderful. When all is said and done, football divides us but definitely brings us together.
Still hard to believe he's not with us anymore. Heartbreaking for his poor family. Even fans from other clubs who I've spoken to since it happened all say he came across as a lovely guy. 182 Liverpool appearances - 91 goals and assists - Premier League winner - FA Cup and Carabao Cup winner 49 Portugal appearances - 14 goals - 2x Nations League winner
A brand new season starts tonight and it is still with a feeling of disbelief and profound sadness to realise that Diogo won't be there.
I have watch led this now and again over the summer on YouTube and every time, shake my head when Diogo’s goals come up. Hard to believe
As @bobby benitez said in another thread, it was a night like no other. A fantastic acknowledgement of the importance, love and grief that the club & fans have for Jota was shown from start to finish, with mosaic and songs. I hope his family can take some solitude from it. They will never walk alone.
