We could loan Suarez to Athletico until January and they could loan us Costa, both problems solved in one act :)

Etoo is on the market. Sell Suarez to Arsenal for 50 million. buy Costa for 20 million and get Etoo on a free and give him 120k a week:D

Not the worst suggestion I've heard by any means mate - but my concern would be that they'd both do something totally bloomin' mental while on loan and both end up being suspended for the second half of the season ;)

Also, if that deal was struck and Suarez then played in the CL for Athletico, did well and they were still in it come the new year, then you can only imagine the wobbler he'd throw if we tried taking him back from loan and preventing him from continuing to play in the competition etc :D

Ah here mate, don't be letting the bloomin' yanks off the hook that easily, they've already led BR to believe he can sign one or two more players, who will go straight into the first eleven this season ... so lets be having a bit more than just Eto'o from the Russians please ;) :D

    Rodgers.

There’s nothing on the Cissokho story,” Rodgers said.

He added: “I believe Costa has signed an extension. There’s nothing in terms of players to add.

“We’ve signed players early on and we hope to sign some more before the end of the window. In the meantime, there’s nothing at the minute.”

He pulled out of the November friendlies with Spain (thigh injury). It wouldn't surprise me if Brazil starting working on him again as next international games aren't until March.

Pitty he didnt want to come to us, savage player. Brazil would be mental not to try and get him back. If he signs for Spain, he will be in for some stick at the WC no doubt

It would have been interesting to see what way Brendan tweaked the system to fit him or Mkihataryan or Willian into the team. Maybe something like below with Suarez, Coutinho and Costa having free roles in behind Sturridge.

    Lucas Gerrard
    ....Coutinho....
    Suarez.......Costa
    ....Sturridge.......

I wonder will Brendan have his eye on a similar sort of attacking creative player in Jan seen as we missed out on our summer targets to fill this role.

You can hardly blame him for sticking with Athletico over us with a shot at La Liga and a champions league season. His value will have doubled at least by the world cup I would say.

Ye it's a pity we missed out on him. He has been one of the best players in Europe this season.

His performance in the Madrid derby was brilliant. He just bullied the Madrid back line from start to finish.

I can't see us getting him now.

Did we meet his release clause in bathe summer do you know? I'd imagine his new contract has a much bigger release clause in it now.

Yeah we met his reported 22m 'release clause'. But I don't think it was as simple as make the bid and we get to talk to the player. Athleti still have to give it the ok and they didn't want to sell from the get go. Those Spanish release clauses aren't worth the paper their wrote on as United found out with that Bilbao lad in the summer. Clubs still have the power to keep the player and can make it more awkward than it's worth for the buying club if they don't want to sell.

The one that got away in a big way imagine a front 3 of him Suarez & Sturridge would be lethal, although i firmly believed we were used by players agent to get Costa noticed and a nice pay rise, one of the sicken aspects of modern day football.
