The problem really for me at this point is that he has been unavailable when he would of had a chance to stake his claim.

He does when there's an international tournament coming up.

Bad business from the club, should have gone in the summer. He was never going to get regular game time under Klopp and his value is just dropping while we are paying massive wages.

Gerrarrd really did a number on this chap with his comments about him. There's probably some tiny proportion of his issues that were just in his head but 99% of them were medical issues which the team doctors kept him out of action.

Not just Gerrard. No way 99% of them were medical.
Even Klopp said that Sturridge needed to learn the diffeernce between serious pain and normal pain.

If the money from a Sturridge sale is only going to sit in the bank I’d prefer to keep him until the summer

I'd prefer the money to sit in the bank than Danny to sit on the bench. And it will be less money in the summer, with 5 more months of his wages. If a good offer comes in, get the deal done.

I’d prefer Danny on the bench could be the difference .
Even injured he is getting a goal/assits per 90min

I’d be happy to see him sold in the summer unless we have somebody lined up as his replacement this window
What good is the money in the bank we have enough sitting there at present

Given the time he has played this season I don't see him making any difference at all on the pitch, that is the point. If he was being used a bit he might, but he will make no difference if he doesn't get on the pitch. He didn't play any minutes of the busiest period of the season. And I think another £10(?) million in the kitty between the drop in his value between now and the summer and his huge weekly wage is £10 million which could be the difference between getting a big player in or not.

Personally I’d prefer players than cash in the bank .
Goal/assist every 90min is still worth having even if injured most of the time than nobody brought in .
Don’t see £10m making the difference in missing out on a top player.

If we get a offer of £25-30m , I’ll understand the club taking it even if nobody lined up .

    Absolutely,

We've plenty of dosh in the account already, last thing we need is to accumulate more - we should be out spending it this window to strengthen the squad !

By all means let Sturridge go this window if we are replacing him with better, but otherwise what is the benefit for us ?

    Exactly

I’d rather keep him unless were signing a top draw stiker as back up to Firmino

.. or better yet, to surpass Firmino as our new No. 1 choice

(and slot Firmino back into the attacking midfield role that he used to play)

A fully fit and a Sturridge that has the team playing to his strengths is top notch but unfortunately that's not going to happen for him at Liverpool so not going to work.

    Guys,

I think there may have been a little confusion above, I was suggesting bringing in a new striker who was better than Firmino (rather than back up, as ROCCO had suggested in his post), then slotting Firmino back into the first team as an attacking midfielder behind the new striker ...

It’s a tough one alright, one thing is certain klopp dosent really rate him so his game time will be limited if he stays! We will probably get a more attractive fee in the jan window due to desperation of other clubs.
But a Couple of injuries we would struggle with couthino and studge gone! I’d like to see another attacking player brought in before letting him go

Sturridge is probably the best player at the club from a pure technical ability point, I've rarely seen any striker as lethal as he is and has that knack of being in the right place too. But all of that is meaningless when you look at his injury record coupled with the demanding requirements placed on our striker by Klopp.

It's very sad the way things worked out for Sturridge, he genuinely could have been regarded as one of the greats of it wasn't for his injury record.

If we are not going to replace him straight away I would prefer to hang on to him.
He may not be used at all, or we could have a few injuries and he could become essential.
Better to have something and not need it, than need it and not have it.

We already need a replacement player for Coutinho, sell Sturridge and that's two quality replacements needed !
