So who from Liverpool would you consider a cult here. This player doesn’t have to be the best player in the world. This player is some one who you wouldn’t have a bad word to say about.

A couple of examples would be Steve Finnan. Always gave his all for the club. Was never in trouble. Was passionate about the club.

Or how about Momo Sissoko. Not the most technically gifted player, but he was great for us before he picked up that eye injury.

Good shout . Took the fans a long time to get to like him, it was always “Lucas fault” but he always gave everything to the side. Never shrieked a tackle. And is still loved by the fans.

I think of someone as a cult hero who was someone not that particularly great at football but left the club with a bond with the fans. Lucas would fit the bill to some extent.

The likes of Tjaore, Biscan and Smicer for instance were a fairly average players but because they were part of the Champions League team they are fondly remembered and could be termed cult heroes. Biscan has one very good game in Champions League and scored in 4-2 win at Fulham and people remember that. Someone like Momo Sissoko was a much better player but hardly remembered.

Also Titi Camara and Ronnie Rosenthal would fit the bill for me. Limited players who had a purple patch.
Erik Meijer never scored a goal for the club but is associated with the club but he seems to be great craic. Sean Dundee was similar and is remembered as joke.

Ronnie Rosenthal scored 4 goals in the last 6 games to win the league in 1990

He scored 7 in the last 8 games.
I remember it well because I just read it on Wiki 2 minutes ago.

Rob Jones is one of my favourite players. Not sure if he is cult hero status as he is one of the best right backs to ever play for the club.
Kuyt and Lucas also for me.

Going away back Joey Jones would probably be considered a Cult Hero. He was only at LFC 3 years and had 70 odd appearances but he was considered a bit mad and had a inconic flag and is probably more remembered as a hero than players who played 100s of games

Dirk-he wasn’t the next Bergkamp but he always put in a shift and pitched in with some memorable goals.

Nicky Tanner. Can't think of too many former players that goes for pints with the travelling support after the game.

Cult heroes for me are Origi and Luis Garcia

Capable of and delivered memorable moments but you just know they're not really consistently good enough.

I get the reasoning on the Lucas shouts but for me he's the opposite of the 2 above. Consistently a better footballer but I can barely remember a thing of note about him other than he gave his all and was a nice lad. Jumping into the crowd at Villa was good actually
