My brother works on vaccines for one of the big Pharma companies. The vaccine he's on is one of those most of us have in our arm from the maternity ward. He was saying they never stop working on them because the virus changes all the time and they have to try stay ahead of it. When Covid isn't in the headlines any more the vaccine guys will be working away on tweaks that we will never hear or know about.
That's a pretty significant deployment if they get 1.5 million done by the summer, that should open things up massively because hospitalisations should be reduced to a minimal rate if the vaccine proves as successful as it has in the various test stages.
Not sure how accurate this is but I put my details in to this earlier and it said I would have my 2nd vaccination by may 2021, I'll be amazed if that is the case. https://www.omnicalculator.com/health/ireland-vaccine-queue
I would assume they will be available privately once the health service and vulnerable are vaccinated. Mine is saying Oct 2022, there is no way I wouldn't be able to pay for it before then if I wanted to.
Yep I agree with this, when it goes private I'll get all my lot done and lighten the burden on the HSE.
If previous predictions by the government and HSE are anything to go by, we will all be vaccinated by 2024.
I try and avoid the news as much as possible but caught a glimpse of the newspaper front pages in a shop this morning and seen something about a Brazilian strain and people travelling back in to Ireland from Brazil are being ADVISED to isolate for 14 days. Pretty infuriating to be honest.
And so, it begins.... The master of the Coombe maternity hospital in Dublin has apologised after it emerged the hospital gave Covid-19 vaccines to 16 family members of staff. https://www.irishtimes.com/news/hea...mp&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter&s=09
What cost is each vaccine Do you think it should.have been dumped Not just picking your quote tried to include the link as well
Of course it shouldn't be dumped. But when the hospital manager is able to get his 2 children vaccined. Surely they ring around old people homes, before prioritising the hospital managers children.
At nine o'clock at night under lockdown I thought they did well while not ideal. It shows the lack of preparation that went into the days vaccine. I know of 3 frontline staff scheduled to get the vaccine last week had to pull out. One was in the waiting room answering questions when her phone beeps her husband had been tested and came back positive even though he was showing no signs. This was at 5.30 in the evening. With social distancing and lockdown it's hard to have 20 odd people knocking around in the hope of getting the vaccine
Might be lack of preparation. But going by articles. Vials had extra does if not 2 extra doses. But if they are planning doing people next day, surely they can contact them? Maybe wasn't anyone to vaccine next day. Then you see in certain hospitals sum nurses not vaccinated yet, while this fella can get his children done.
Thats a non story as far as I'm concerned if it went down as said. Unless they requested additional numbers knowing who they were for, that would be a scandal. What annoys me most about it is someone within the hospital is trying to cause problems by leaking it.
Think it’s the principle of the thing. They easily could have found 16 people nearby in Crumlin children’s hospital. It’s 5 minute drive between The two, probably 3 mins at that time of night. Defo less of a drive than getting his children in for it. A chancer who has got caught out and knows it. Good news that the Story has come out as will stop other chancers in charge from doing same thing.
