I was inclined to believe the early kick off with spurs playing inter same day. What reason have two of you to say you can't see it

Much as most won't care what time provided itsi Sunday

I just cant see it on the basis that I cant recall a charity/community shield game scheduled for an afternoon kick off but happy to be told otherwise. Be surprised if the premier leagues curtain raiser re-schedules itself to suit some other clubs pre season friendly then again who knows. We'll find out soon enough I'm sure

Any word on criteria yet for ticket sale anyone hear?

I wonder would TV rights come into play? Currently there's no broadcaster signed up to show the ICC other than MUTV for the United games. So if Sky or BT came in, they'd want the Premier League to protect their investment and have both games in complimentary TV slots.

I think Premier Sports are showing the ICC games.

The community shield game was on BT last year and I'd say the premier league and fa would have this as a big game with more importance than an ICC friendly

I was more so thinking if Sky had the rights, I'm sure the Premier League would have sorted them out. But as Lionel pointed out seems it's on Premier Sports, so I can't see them having any pull with the PL and both games are likely to be on at similar times.

Don’t think it can be on the first, saw yesterday that we are playing Lyon in Switzerland on the 31st of July.

There's an article on the Echo which was last updated 10 hours ago, that has the Community Shield down as: August, no date confirmed, but likely the weekend of Saturday 3rd/Sunday 4th.

I would think the friendly against Schalke had to be on the Tuesday night in case Sky chose a match involving Liverpool on the Friday night following as the first game in the Premiership if indeed there is a Friday night match to start this season.
