Win Sunday, then somehow get that Palace monkey off out back and beat them (I could be imagining that monkey - just seems they cause us grief every time we play them to me), and be 12 point clear by the time they play Chelsea, and I swear to Robbie, no matter how many showers in bleach it takes, I will cheer on the plastics for that one.
Massive game this, purely massive. If we go 9 ahead of them its not over (unless you're paul merson) but it would be a long way back for City. Same time, if we lose this and the gap gets cut to 3 points (2.5 points given the GD), after all our late wins etc, it would be a massive blow psychologically and the media would then start with this 'bottlers' thing and bring up a few ironic mentions of the phrase mentality monsters etc.... So usually when there's so much at stake it ends in a draw and I think that's how it will go, personally. Like someone else said, I wouldn't go taking Pep's word for it that Ederson is out but he really is important to them so I'd be chuffed IF he's out. I think City will be happy to sit back and counter attack. Last time at Anfield they had clearly worked on Ederson playing like a defender and giving him the ball to pass it around to nullify our high press and then play it out with the extra man. So if he really is out then it would be one little card less for them to play, coz Bravo added to the makeshift backline wont be able to do that. Aguero was rested midweek so he'll start and he's the best striker in the league imo and Lovren is starting for us so it's not as though all the defensive worries are in blue. If I was an impartial observer I'd be lumping on the draw.
Ederson, Laporte, Rodri(fairly sure), Sane and D Silva out. 5 definite starters there straight away out. I'd be hoping the lift we'll get from the absentees and the Anfield effect will be enough for the win. The only way I'd be happy for a draw is if the game is as dire as last year's with few clear cut chances and we have to score last 10 minutes to get back on level terms.
Last year I thought LFC changed tactics more than City. Blessed to get a draw with the missed peno. Would have had no complaints if they had won. previous home games LFC went for it and got the rewards. Same again this Sunday 3-1 reds
They haven't beaten us at Anfield since 2003. That's some embarrassing record when you think about the squads they've(and we've had) since their money came in.
Wow, I knew they'd a bad record at Anfield but 16 years? That's nuts! Let's hope it goes to 17 years at the very least. Pep himself has massive respect for Anfield and the atmosphere it generates, that's why I think they'll start really cagey and try to take the sting out of it and try to quieten the crowd. Would be fookin magic if we managed an early goal and got the place rocking!
Be disappointed if the ox isn't in the team need to take this to them from the start and blow them away
Personally hope the midfield 3 is the tried and trusted 3, if we keep their midfield at bay and our full backs and front 3 play well we will win...
no idea why but Liverpool Drifted significantly overnight and into this morning, They are now a bigger price than they were pre Ederson injury, I suspect there might be some surprise news on one of the teamsheets
in his managerial career, pep has never been 6 points behind after 12 games never mind 9. they have to go for this and win this and that plays right in to JK's hands.
They can have ederson, bravo and bring joe hart in to try block up the goal but wont matter a fcuk we have this 3-1
Obviously wary but in the main confident about today. Agree with whoever said earlier play our usual mid 3. Need to stifle their supply lines to augero. Ox is a brilliant sub to have but i wouldn't be starting him today. 3-1.
