Anyone getting a load of pop ups when trying to sign in on an iPhone?

The second I open Irish Kop pop ups come up and it's happening every time over the last few days.

Had two again today as far as I can see it's the same pop up. The usual "don't leave this page to win an iPhone" and so on appears.

On the main page where it says how many are on the site (Members x, Guests y, Robots z). Stupid question but what's the story with the robots??? How does it work, how can they be counted etc.

Generally done by amount of requests made.
Or have a hidden link that no end user could ever possibly select yet the bit can hit it.
Header fields mixed up is another way.
Really there are a lot more ways to identify a bot.

Requests for what? What is the purpose of them, are they random or specifically targeted?

They'll hit the website many times. That's a http request. An abnormal number. They are random generally, looking for email addresses etc. That's spam bots.
They are also used in a good way for the likes of automated web chats etc
