This is a fantastic video of the emotions involved in being a sports person and what family means. http://www.v8supercars.com.au//view/videos/what-i-was-born-to-do 2hr 45 mins to race start need to get some sleep.
I bump this thread every year my favourite motor race event is on this weekend. The Bathurst 1000km. Live race coverage on MotorsTV 447 on Sky from 23:30 Saturday night. Race starts 00:30 Sunday. Last year's race was one of the greatest in years.
Not a big fan of motorsports meself Lionel but if you're in to formula 1 you should check out the interview pat Kenny did on his radio show with Jackie stewart.it was on today's show but It was recorded before the weekend when that lad crashed, very good interview.
I will Willie, thank you for that. Jackie Stewart is a man who probably saved more lives in Formula 1 than any other person through his actions against the ruling bodies of F1 in the late 1960's. He is a great man and without his stubborn (Scottish) streak and determination many more F1 driver's lives would have been lost by racing on circuits like the older version of Spa-Francochamp and the old Nurburgring. He was a pioneer for safety in Formula 1 and a man that was at one stage despised for the stands he took. BBC 4 screened a great documentary a few weeks back Grand Prix - The Killer Years http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00z8v18 If it gets shown again on that channel I would highly recommend it. On a different note I think himself and Pat Jennings are the only people I know that have had virtually the same hair style for well over 30 years
29mins in to the programme http://www.newstalk.ie/player/shows...07th_October_2014_-_The_Pat_Kenny_Show_Part_2
If anyone like Bathurst i suggest ye start watching the British Touring Car Championship, as some one whose takes part in and has grewn up around motorsport its a brillant, door handle to door handle racing where anything can happen in a race. Tin top racing is every bit as good as F1 for years.
Yes the race coverage is very good on ITV4. That Jackie Stewart interview was great to listen to, thank you again Willie for alerting me to it. Jackie is a remarkable man, I have to hand it to Pat Kenny and his research team they asked him all the right questions.
Ya they have some very experienced commenators along with Tim Harvey who used be a legend of BTCC back in the day, tbf to ITV they've really backed it.
Stream for anyone that does not have Motors TV http://u-peak.me/STV3.html also coverage in HD on BT Sport from 00:30
Mad race this year with nine safety car incidents in perfect racing conditions (only two last year) and the race stopped earlier for track repairs. 24 laps to go.
10th safety car incident. Race strategy changing for every car. There was some tortoise and hare racing going on to get the cars home. 9 laps to go. It's a lottery.
Fantastic dramatic finish. Winner never led a lap until he crossed the finish line in the Ford. [TWEET]521202758376894466[/TWEET]
I know it's not bathurst but it's motorsport related, can anyone tell me the tv times for the Isle of Man tt, love watching it every year the liathrodi of those guys knows no bounds!
ITV 4 every at 9pm every night. Preview shows from next Monday night. Their coverage is top notch each year, as was the BBC NI coverage of the recent North West 200.
Thats true Lionel their coverage is always top notch, good knowledgeable coverage , although tbf the Northwest will never hold a candle to the TT, its a classic event...cheers for that Lionel.
http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/motorsport/33001908 Sad news from the TT yesterday, the island can be a unforgiving espicelly for a lad on he's debut ride, all motorsport are dangerous, crashes form a part of it. RIP to the lad.
Another year another bump of this thread, race is tomorrow night starting at 00:30 Sunday morning. Top 10 shootout tonight. TV coverage Motors TV and BT Sport. From today's practice the fastest lap ever recorded on the Mountain and also a frightening crash during practice which happened to the defending champion.
That was a scarey off looked like he clipped da wall slightly alot to be said bout da safety cages in modern motorsport cars.
