Just imagine where we would be with Mignolet in goal this season..... Nobody is even mentioning his price anymore, comfortably the best in the league. When was the last time we could say we have the best keeper and Centre half in England/Europe?
Excellent signing. Thought he could have been more forceful when the ball was bouncing around for the goal. Looked like he had 2 hands on it. Massive save at the end and promoted the counter attack once more.
Wood clearly made a play for the ball in an offside position and Alisson tried to preempt the contact Wood was going to make. I would place no blame on him for the goal myself
No blame on him from here either, burnley player stuck the leg out trying to get a touch and thus intervened with play from an offside position and the aftermath looked that he had the ball in his hands but probably down to the refs interpretation. Showed his quality but not only by "pulling a de Gea worldie" and also quick thinking to start off our third. The simple difference between 3-1 and a possible 2-2 which could have happened last year.
They win through the goal on Sky with an ex premier league ref. He said it should have been a free out a offside as well as a free out for Alisson having his hands on the ball.
Jaysus I should read my posts. They went through the goal on Sky with an ex premier league ref. He said it should have been a free out for the offside as well as a free out for Alisson having his hands on the ball.
Reminds me of Schmichael who for me was head and shoulders best keeper in the league since the 90s. Presence, the way he spreads himself, calm. You can imagine strikers wondering how they can get the ball past him.
Chris Kirkland was on LFC tv news at 6 o clock this evening and he said he spent a bit of time recently at melwood, he said he knew Alisson was good but didn't realise just how good he was, he said he was blown away by what he seen in the drills they were doing.
I was amazed that both Carragher and Neville chose DeGea in their Liverpool/United XI on MNS yesterday, wtf like? !
Sky TV loves the Mancs, the lads try to keep their paymasters happy, simple as that imho. DeGea is 3rd - 4th best keeper in the PL at the moment.
Career so far, no question De Gea. This season so far, De Gea 16 league games, 2 clean sheets. Alisson 16 league games, 10 clean sheets.
Clean sheets are generally not the best measure for exactly how well a keeper is doing, Utd for instance would likely face about twice as many shots as us because they're rubbish so the odds of De Gea keeping clean sheets are much lower than Alison in the first place. % saves and things like that are much more useful indicators overall and I can happily report that Alison is miles out in front in the premier league from every other starting keeper, his save % is a starting 85.7% and De Gea is at 68.4%. https://scores.nbcsports.com/epl/player_leaders.asp?category=108
Clean sheets are a crude measurement alright ed but 2 out of 16 does give some indication of the drop in form De Gea has had in a disjointed team. He was the best in the world for about 3-4 years imo, papered over the cracks for them when they were playing far worse than results suggested. His drop in form is a big part of their drop in points. Still think he is the best I've seen since Schmeichel. Delighted with Alisson but need a few years at the top level with us to be able to compare them really.
I dont like doing "What Ifs", but if we had this guy last season number 6 would have arrived. Great to have a world class keeper
It's so great having a keeper like him. I'm nearly enjoying our amazing defending this yearas much as our attack last year. If we went on the lift No. 6 that save would go down in Liverpool folklore and legend. What a save at such an incredibly important moment.
